WEATHERSet high in the Rockies, Jackson Hole enjoys a dry climate highlighted by long, warm summer days and some of the best winter conditions to be found in North America. Spring is cool, offering showers and brilliant sunny days. Summer temperatures can be quite warm during the day, but evenings are often chilly. Fall weather is gradually cooler, but remains warm enough for many summertime activities from fishing to hiking. In the winter, December and January are the coldest months with an average annual snowfall of 150 inches (381 centimeters). But with the dry air, it often feels warmer than the temperature indicates.

Grand Teton Music Festival:• The Grand Teton Music Festival aims to enhance everyone's enjoyment and appreciation of classical music. On Friday mornings at 10:00 am, you can attend the final rehearsal before the weekend concerts. In the evenings, enjoy concerts given by popular artists. The Grand Teton Music Festival runs during the summer months.

Walk Festival Hall:• The intimate 740-seat Walk Festival Hall in Teton Village is acclaimed for its acoustics, and is home to the nationally recognized Grand Teton Music Festival. From June through August, the Festival Orchestra performs at more than 40 concerts, from full orchestra to chamber music, a spotlight on unique musical themes, family and children’s concerts. From January through March, a program of concert series and lectures is offered. Throughout the summer, the annual Teton Village Summer Festival offers a series of events, from classic car shows to art and antique shows and a Native American festival.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort:• On the doorstep of Four Seasons, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is renowned for its rugged, varied terrain, deep light snow and endless back-country, and offers some of the country's best ski and snowboard experiences. On an average day, there are less than 2,000 skiers on the 2,500-acre ski area, offering the lowest skier density in the country. Dogsledding, sleigh rides, heli-skiing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are other winter favorites. The Resort's winter season runs from late November to early April. Grand Teton National Park:• Grand Teton National Park is famous for the saw-toothed peaks and broad canyons of the Teton Range. This is a 40 mile (65 kilometer) long, seven to nine mile (11 to 14.5 kilometer) wide mountain block. Grand Teton, the highest peak, towers more than a mile above the valley of Jackson Hole, rising to 13,770 feet (4,198 meters). Twelve other mountains in the range rise over 12,000 feet (3,658 meters). Approximately 50 miles (80 kilometers) of Snake River lie within Grand Teton National Park, forming the headwaters of the extensive Columbia River system. Also within the park are seven glacial lakes and more than one hundred alpine and backcountry lakes. The park is open year round and for car traffic from May through October.

Snake River:• A float trip on the Snake River is one of the best ways to see Grand Teton National Park’s wildlife. The river is a mix of raging white water for some of the best rafting in the United States, and gentle currents for scenic floats through mead-ows of wildflowers and wildlife sanctuaries. Fly fishing opportunities for trout and whitefish abound.

Bar J Chuckwagon:• In the old days on the cattle drive, the cowboys would spend the evening telling tall tales and enjoying music at the chuckwagon. Now, you can experience the spirit of the old West too – after a long day, stop in at the Bar J Chuckwagon supper and western show for old-style Western hospitality. Bar J is a working cattle ranch complete with delicious food and family entertainment in an atmosphere of bygone days.

Center Street Gallery:• Specializing in modern and contemporary art, Center Street Gallery focuses on original paintings and sculpture depicting a variety of subject matter. The Gallery represents approximately 30 nationally and internationally recognized artists, with styles including American modernism and abstract expressionism.

Center for the Arts:• The Center for the Arts is a growing art center campus in downtown Jackson. The Performing Arts Pavilion hosts theatrical and musical events in its 500-seat theatre and music center. Jackson Hole Rodeo:• For action-packed fun in the summer, there's nothing like the rodeo – it's one of the West's favorite events. The Jack-son Hole Rodeo is noted for its fine stock. Because it's smaller than rodeos in other parts of the state, it has been able to maintain its "anyone who has the gumption can do it" attitude. Come out and enjoy barrel racing, calf roping, bull riding, saddle bronco riding, bareback bronco riding and Just For Kids events.

Historical Jackson Hole Playhouse:• The Jackson Hole Playhouse has had a chequered career. Built in 1916, it served as a car dealership, bowling alley and billiard hall before it became the Pink Garter Theatre in the 1950s and, finally, the Jackson Hole Playhouse. Diamond Lil performed there, and so have many other famous performers over the years, from Rock Hudson to Olivia Newton John. You'll see such Broadway musical favorites as Oklahoma, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Sound of Music and Paint Your Wagon. Come and enjoy a rowdy Western good time! Open June through September. Off Square Theatre Company:

• Enjoy year-round professional theatre in Jackson Hole, with the Off Square Theatre Company. It presents quality thea-tre and theatre education for children and adults, locals and visitors, theatre professionals and non-professionals alike. You'll be informed, amused and challenged. Past productions have included Oliver! and the Why Be Blue Musical Caba-ret.

The Town Square Shoot-Out:• Come watch a re-enactment of frontier justice in the Jackson Town Square. This is the longest running shoot-out in the country.

Mountain Trails Gallery:• Mountain Trails Gallery offers a mix of traditional Western and contemporary New West genres, including landscape, wildlife, plain-air, impressionist and bronze fine art, in 3,500 square feet (325 square meters) of gallery space.

Legacy Gallery:• Offering representational and impressionist art for over 18 years, the Legacy Gallery represents over 60 nationally known and up-and-coming artists. The gallery specializes in paintings and sculpture depicting a variety of subject matter, including Western, figurative, wildlife, landscape and still life. Works by deceased 19th and 20th century artists are also presented. Staff are on hand to advise on placing fine art, including life-size bronze sculptures, in home, garden or corporate settings.

The Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum:• In downtown Jackson, the Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum is a repository of early photographs and other items of historical significance, such as trade beads, antique furniture, pistols and Indian artifacts. The Museum is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Jackson:• Shopping in Jackson offers an appealing mix of exclusive boutiques, outdoor stores and shops that highlight Jackson Hole's Old West heritage; from exotic food products, such as buffalo meat and huckleberry sauce, to artwork that ranges from Western and wildlife themes to Native American and contemporary art. You can also explore Jackson's many galleries and boutiques. The town boasts over 35 art galleries and is considered third in the country as a Western art centre.

Trailside Galleries:• Trailside Galleries represents a number of North America's premier Western artists. A wide range of genres is presented, including landscape, Native American, cowboy, wildlife and Southwestern. Media include oil and watercolor, gouache, bronze and woodcarving. A selection of limited edition, high quality prints -; including many artist proof (AP) prints, signed and numbered by the artist is offered.

Within a 25-minute drive of the ResortNational Elk Refuge:• The Jackson Elk Herd, the largest elk herd in the world, has a population of approximately 14,000 more than 7,500 of which spend the winter on the 25,000-acre (10,120-hectare) National Elk Refuge. Located 3 miles (5 kilometers) north of Jackson, on the flat meadows surrounding the Gros Ventre River, the National Elk Refuge operates a supplemental feeding program for the elk to help them survive the winter without raiding the farmers' haystacks. Horse-drawn sleigh rides among the elk are available mid-December through March. Hours vary seasonally.

National Museum of Wildlife Art:• The National Museum of Wildlife Art boasts some of the best wildlife art in the country. Featured artists among its collection of some 2,000 paintings, sculptures, photographs and works on paper include John J. Audubon, Robert Bateman, Pablo Picasso and renowned local artist Carl Runguis. The museum strives to enrich and inspire man's relationship with nature by focusing its exhibitions and programs on wildlife. Located just 3 miles (5 kilometers) north of Jackson, the museum sits on a hillside overlooking the 20,000-acre (8,000-hectare) National Elk Refuge.

Jenny Lake and Jackson Lake:• In Grand Teton National Park, Jenny Lake and Jackson Lake are particularly popular for hiking, canoeing, boating, swimming and fishing. South Jenny Lake is a favorite for hiking, and a scenic drive alongside the lake is particularly pleasant.

White-water rafting and scenic floatsJackson Hole is home to a wide range of river-running options. Trips vary from a calm, scenic trip on the upper Snake River to a wild ride on the rapids of the lower Snake. The calm section meanders through Grand Teton National Park, offering unique perspectives on the mountains and a safe way to see wildlife. The exciting lower stretch of the Snake River runs the white water of the Snake River Canyon. Experience Big Kahuna, Lunch Counter and other fun rapids rated from Class II to Class IV, depending on conditions. Some river guide vendors include: Sands, Barker Ewing, Mad River, Dave Hansen and Jackson Hole Whitewater.

Wooden boat toursEnjoy a private scenic float in a handmade wooden boat with the option of a gourmet catered riverside meal and fly-fishing. A. J. DeRosa's Wooden Boat Tours will provide guests with a memorable experience on the river.

Air activities

Air tourLet the magic of motor-less flight in one of the world's most awe-inspiring areas provide you with the adventure of a lifetime: soar over the spectacular Teton Mountain Range in a glider. The tour starts in Driggs, Idaho, with a tow up the west side of the Grand Teton, approximately 11,700 feet (3,566 meters) above the valley floor. Then enjoy the leisurely soar back to the airport in Driggs. If a glider is not your thing, hop on board a Cessna 172 and fly above the Bridger-Teton and Targhee National Forests and Teton Valley, Idaho, and take advantage of phenomenal photography opportuni-ties.

Hot-air ballooningFly in a balloon over the largest remaining private open space in Jackson Hole, a working ranch bordered by Grand Teton National Park, the Bridger-Teton National Forest and the Snake River. Your slide-ride down can be as relaxing or exhilarating as you like. You control your own speed – no special skills are required. Slide opens Memorial Day weekend.

Wildlife safarisDuring these private tours led by Tenley Thompson, our in-house wildlife biologist, you can experience customized four-hour expeditions in Grand Teton National Park, the Bridger Teton National Forest and the National Elk Refuge. Guests travel in a Cadillac Escalade equipped with Zeiss spotting scopes, Brunton binoculars and gourmet provisions prepared by the Resort’s chefs. Private wildlife adventures give you the opportunity to safely and comfortably view mag-nificent creatures in their natural habitat, beyond the highways and in remote areas. Along the way, you will learn about the flora and fauna, geology and history of this significant ecosystem, and have the opportunity to view elk, moose, mule deer, bison, bears, wolves, mountain lions, bighorn sheep, bald eagles, river otters, trumpeter swans, owls and other rare birds. Thompson will customize the route based on your specific interests and recent wildlife sightings.

As part of the Junior Ecologist program Thompson has created for children, younger guests will receive their very own kids’ adventure pack filled with interactive equipment designed just for them, and can explore a variety of hands-on specimen samples such as animal pelts, scat, claws and skulls.

Mountain bikePedal your way through a half- or full-day adventure on Rendezvous Mountain or further into the pristine Jackson Hole backcountry. Base Camp provides in-house mountain bike rentals, helmets and any other equipment you may need, and most trails on Rendezvous Mountain can be accessed by chairlift. A broad variety of mountain bike trails is available in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, the Bridger-Teton and Targhee National Forest areas or Cache Creek Canyon, a more challenging trail system. Riders of all ages and levels can enjoy pedaling through fields of wildflowers, along mountain ridges, through aspen groves and alongside rivers and streams.

The Base Camp counselors can help with self-guided excursions or can enlist a professional mountain bike guide. Teton Mountain Bike Tours offers private guides, and Hoback Sports offers private tours with instruction. For all mountain biking excursions, we recommend that you bring sturdy shoes, a camera, a wind/rain shell, shorts, sunglasses, sunscreen, extra water and snacks. Guides and instructors will supply the bike, helmet, gloves, water bottle and trans-portation from the Resort.

Road bikePaved or hard-packed roads and trails throughout Jackson Hole offer dramatic views and the possibility of wildlife sight-ings. Families and recreational riders will enjoy riding along the National Elk Refuge Road or The Pathways. More expe-rienced cyclists will enjoy the challenge of Teton Pass. Adult and children's road bikes and cruisers are available for rent through the Resort's Base Camp.

Chuckwagon supper rideExperience the spirit of the Old West with a chuckwagon supper ride aboard an 1800sstyle, horse-drawn covered wagon. Enjoy a barbecue dinner and a traditional Western music show complete with bluegrass music and Wyoming ranch stand-up comedy. Children and adults of all ages will get a kick out of this memorable evening of cowboy culture.

GolfTeton Pines is a full-service, semi-private championship golf course offering tee boxes of varying levels, many water features and large greens. This 18-hole course, opened in 1987, was designed by Arnold Palmer. Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club is the valley's first full-service championship 18-hole golf course. Opened in 1963 and redesigned in 1973 by Robert Trent Jones II, it showcases some of Jackson Hole's most breathtaking Teton views. This semi-private club is consistently ranked number one in the state of Wyoming by Golf Digest magazine. Located just 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the Resort, the club offers a pro shop, golf instruction, club rentals, driving range and putting green.

HikingRight outside the Resort's Base Camp or minutes away in Grand Teton National Park, hikes to dazzling mountain peaks, waterfalls and glacial lakes abound. Panoramic valley views will take your breath away. Explore countless hiking trails, from beginner's level to advanced. For those who choose to go on their own, Base Camp counselors can provide all the necessary information, maps, directions and recommendations, including where to go and what to bring, wear, look for and expect. They can acquaint you with the wild flowers, wildlife, birds, history and geology of the greater Yellowstone ecosystem.

Bring your camera to capture the stunning landscape and rare wildlife. For those who prefer on-trail guidance, Base Camp counselors can arrange daily ranger-led hikes in Grand Teton National Park as well as naturalist-led hikes into the National Park and National Forest adjacent to the Resort. The Hole Hiking Experience provides private guided hikes in Bridger Teton National Forest.

Horseback ridingHorseback riding in Jackson Hole offers the romance of Old West-style travel and exploration combined with the chance to see an abundance of rare and magnificent wildlife. From Teton Village, ride north into Grand Teton National Park, either exploring Granite Canyon or looking for wildlife on the Valley Trail. There is a variety of horseback riding outfitters; all have an eight-year-old age minimum and suggest bringing long pants, insect repellent, hat, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes or cowboy boots, and a camera. Green River Outfitters – Located an hour from the Resort, Green River Outfitters provide transportation to and from their camp. This outfitter offers a full-day experience that includes lunch at an authentic trapper cabin on site. Half-day trips are available as well; these do not include a visit to the trapper cabin. One of the most popular outfitters with families, Green River offers many additional activities at the camp, including lake fishing. Because of the long duration of the rides, this outfitter is best for families with older children.

Goosewing Ranch – Located about an hour from the Resort, Goosewing Ranch o�ers half- or full-day rides into the Gros Ventre backcountry. Goosewing will provide transportation to and from the Resort, as well as lunch on site. Ideal for couples on a romantic holiday, this area is exceptionally pristine and remote, offering a serene, private experience. These trips are perfect for the more experienced rider. Spring Creek Ranch – Just a 20-minute drive from the Resort, Spring Creek Ranch offers rides from one to four hours' duration, offering 360-degree views of the Tetons and the surrounding mountain ranges. This is a great option for families who enjoy both convenience and flexibility, and don't want to dedicate an extensive amount of time to the activity.

Colter Bay Village – Located within Grand Teton National Park, Colter Bay offers horseback rides in Grand Teton National Park, including breakfast and dinner rides and one- and two-hour rides during the day.

PicnickingBase Camp counselors can arrange for guests to enjoy a picnic at one of the following scenic spots:

Curtis Canyon – Offering views of Jackson, Snow King Mountain and the Tetons to the north, Curtis Canyon is a short, scenic drive past the prairies of the National Elk Refuge. The Wedding Tree – This popular spot for couples tying the knot is also the perfect place for a picnic, with stunning views of the Tetons and the option of stopping by nearby Slide Lake. Schwabacher's Landing – A prime spot to view wildlife including moose, elk, otter eagle and waterfowl, this area is also a favourite location for photographers, with the Grand Teton reflecting in the still waters of Snake River. Blacktail Butte – This location offers panoramic views of Gros Ventre range, the Tetons, the distant Salt and Wind River Ranges and the valley and waterways of Jackson Hole in between. Jenny Lake – From the South Jenny Lake trailhead, a 3-mile (5-kilometre) hike will lead you to the famous Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, where there are spectacular views of Jenny Lake and Jackson Valley. Oxbow Bend – Located in Grand Teton National Park, Oxbow Bend is a few miles past the Moran entrance gate. This site is excellent for viewing moose, bald eagles and the white pelican.

Rock climbing and mountaineeringChallenge your mind, body and spirit as you rock climb in Grand Teton National Park, either just outside the Resort's Base Camp or minutes north in the Tetons. After learning the fundamental skills, from knot-tying to climbing tech-niques, you'll be ready to ascend an unlimited variety of rock faces suited to your level, whether you are a first-time climber or a more experienced mountaineer. World-renowned, highly trained Exum Mountain Guides are available through the Base Camp to provide the very best instruction to help you complete exciting, triumphant and beautiful climbs safely.

TennisTeton Pines Tennis Center is a full-service tennis club with eight outdoor courts in the summer and five indoor courts in the winter. Open daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, the Center is located 5 miles (8 kilometers) from the Resort. Jackson Hole Golf and Tennis Club is open daily from 7:00 am until dusk, offering six plexi cushion outdoor courts. The Club is located 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the Resort.

Anything goes in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. On the street, in the shops, and in the restaurants, saloons and bars, you will see people in casual clothes or luxurious outfits. So when planning your vacation to Jackson, planning what to bring is more dependent on the season and your personal preference than any type of norm in the area. Also, consider what you plan to do while you are here.

Jackson, Wyoming is located at the south end of Grand Teton National Park and is in close proximity to Yellowstone National Park. A great little community with an interesting western history, Jackson is now the place to visit to enjoy great outdoor opportunities.
