Filton College Session Plan Date:11/11/10 Time:11:00 to 12:00 Duration: 1 hour Course: carpentry Subject: door hanging Lecturer: Tom Osborne Aim of session For students to understand and demonstrate the principles of hanging a door General Learning Objectives: By the end of the session learners will be able to: Gauge the margins around the door, mark out the positions of the hinges, cut the hinges into the edge of the door, transfer the hinge cut outs on to the frame. Square the markings out and cut the hinges into the frame, position door and swing door in the frame. Adjust as to suit original margins. Functional Skills Development By the end of the session learners will be able to: write a brief description on the process of hanging a door. Opportunities to promote E&D, ECM To make sure that all students are comfortable with the demonstration. And that all students have the necessary tools to complete the task in hand. Resources/Health & Safety Clean area to work in, sufficient lighting for the task, correct PPE equipment, A internal flush door, 1 1 / 2 pairs of hinges screws to suit, For the more capable students a internal larch with a lever latch handle.
