JANUARY 2013 ARNEGIAN 3 C
A CERTIFIED CARNEGIAN: Ms. Universe 2013, 3rd
Runner up - Ariella Arida
Highlights by: Prettie C. Atienza
Ara (Ariella) exclaimed as she flipped her hair back into place. She
had just demonstrated how to act like a giant from "Jack and the
Beanstalk" in front of the whole class. Everyone was so surprised
at her transformation that she was given the "Breakthrough Award"
through a majority vote for that particular exercise on flexibility. It
was quite pleasant to learn that a very similar activity was entasked
to the Ms. Universe candidates called The Truth & Dare Game
where she "acted like a chicken". Who would have known by then
that her theatrical attempts in class would be put to good use?
Rappler also remarked: We had an idea that Miss Universe-
Philippines Ariella Arida had a quirky sense of humor during
our fashion and beauty editorial shoot with her, where we observed
that the beauty queen was more about being real than she was
about poise. – Kai Magsanoc.
There is much more to Ara than what meets the eye. She is actually
quite the mysterious type. She always had this calm demeanor
which makes it hard to guess what's in her head. (which explains
why the "giant" demo was quite unexpected). Yet, once
approached, she is incredibly accommodating.
What struck most of the class and team of
instructors was how humble she is. No matter who
she was speaking with, she would look them in the
eye with much sincerity. No bias, no judgments,
she just made people feel welcome & comfortable.
You can't miss her positive outlook and genuine
heart to serve others. Her actions (even outside
the radar of the press) exude her desire to enrich
the lives of others and make a difference. On top
of this, we just can't help but think how much more
she will be able to inspire others now that her
virtues are backed up with Dale Carnegie's
Principles of Human Relations.
The Dale Course, which lasts for three months (12
Saturdays), is a high impact, intensive course that
was derived from Dale's three best sellers: "How to
Win Friends and Influence People" , "The Quick &
Easy Way to Effective Speaking “and "How to Stop
Worrying and Start Living". These books made
such an impact during post civil war that Dale and
his team began a class that was designed to be a
"laboratory" for real life application of principles
and their corresponding results. And to this very
day, the same principles that they had formulated
have remained. Timeless, Universal and
Guaranteed Effective.
On one session, Dale Carnegie Philippines
President - Mr. Doodz Policarpio said: "I was
asked if we were training the ladies (pertaining to
the Bb. Pilipinas Winners) to compete in the
pageant. I said, No. We are training them to WIN"
He had always emphasized that everything starts
from within.

That it wasn't a matter of you becoming
better than others, but about becoming
the best of yourself.
"Can I just say I became a “better
version” of myself? I realized that my
inhibitions were holding me back from
bringing out my best. The exercises in
Dale allowed me to get rid of my
inhibitions. Also to become more
reflective and appreciative of life. Now,
I'm even more inspired to make a
difference, even in the smallest
possible way" said Ara during their
graduation speech at the end of the
course. During her send-off party, she
said: "My biggest competitor in the
pageant would be myself. If I would
doubt myself, then how can I convince
others that I deserve to win?"
"Can I just say I became a better version of myself? I realized that my inhibitions
were holding me back from bringing out my best. The exercises in Dale allowed
me to release my inhibitions, be more reflective and appreciative of life. Now, I'm

JANUARY 2013 ARNEGIAN 7 C Dale Carnegie Course
Opens in TI Clark
By: Lesley Ann T. Rea
LIVE WITH AN ATTITUDE! This is a
statement which TI Phils. Inc. has
continuously lived up to for several
years. The dynamic organization
strongly believes in the power of
character building and improvement
of attitude through human relations
skills. This was achieved by having
batch after batch of their TIers attend
the 12-sessions of the Dale Carnegie
Course: Effective Communications &
Human Relations.
Last Oct. 2-3, 2013, Dale Carnegie
Training opened 3 new batches in
their Clark, Angeles plant and was
indeed successfully started. 76 young
& driven TIers including young expats
from US & China participated the
said session.
The participants had a nice feel of the
first session and were given a taste
of what the succeeding sessions
would be like. They were shown
techniques on how to improve their
ability to remember names and use a
guide in starting and sustaining a
conversation with new people.
The various activities made them see
the value of remembering names of
people and how this can be so
important in building good and lasting
relationships.
Thoughts from Dale Carnegie
Develop success from failures.
Discouragement and failure are
two of the surest stepping
stones to success.
Most of the important things in
the world have been
accomplished by people who
have kept on trying when there
seemed to be no hope at all.
Happiness doesn't depend on
any external conditions, it is
governed by our mental
attitude.
Inaction breeds doubt and fear.
Action breeds confidence and
courage. If you want to conquer
fear, do not sit home and think
about it. Go out and get busy.
People rarely succeed unless
they have fun in what they are
doing.
