Those stories are about people, passion, places, life, love, laughter,

nature, and celebration. Stories are what inspired us to build Folktale

Winery & Vineyards.

Nestled in the valley just 5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, Folktale

is conveniently accessible from the Monterey Airport and the

Monterey Peninsula. An easy drive from Silicon Valley and the San

Francisco Bay Area, Folktale is a one-of-a-kind winery destination.

Situated on 15 acres of organically farmed vineyards and gardens

along the Carmel River, it offers numerous venue settings with

which to delight you and your guests. Whether your group is small

and intimate, desiring a large feast and celebration, or a memorable

corporate retreat, our aim is to create an experience tailored to

your group. Each of our venue locations has its own unique feel

and narrative. We invite you to discover and enjoy this idyllic setting

with award winning wines, food, natural beauty, comfortable climate,

MARIA’S V INEYARDThe vineyard is a lush, magical environment and offers a reconnection

with the earth and sky. Whether enjoying the warm sun or dining

under the stars, the vineyard is a nurturing place in which to have

your grand celebration, casual picnic, or memorable ceremony.

(Up to 250 guests)

Nestled into the vines beside our Barrel Room, The Rose Vineyard

features a large, grassy field perfect for large parties and tented

events. This upper vineyard showcases majestic views of the property

as well as the Santa Lucia Mountains beyond. This space can be used in

conjunction with the Barrel Room for an indoor/outdoor event.

the ROSE V INEYARD

The estate vineyard stretches over five acres of sustainably-farmed

Sangiovese vines, which slope gently towards the Carmel River. The

beauty of the grapevines is in full effect from March through the end

of November, when ceremonies, receptions, and vineyard feasts are

surrounded by nature’s bounty.

the VINEYARD HOUSETucked within the vineyard is the luxurious Vineyard House, an ideal

venue for upscale events and meetings. It offers four private rooms and

a great room with twenty foot vaulted ceilings that generously opens

up to a wrap-around patio surrounded by vines; an ideal location for

cocktails, dinner and dancing, or a private corporate retreat.

the GARDEN & COURTYARDOur Winery Garden and Courtyard are warm and tranquil. The lush

green landscaping, colorful and fragrant flowers, and trees that

provide dappled shade, insist that you linger. Playful centerpieces

and kilim pillows add color and comfort, while the string lights,

fire pits, and hanging lanterns in the Strawberry Tree create a

surreal glow in the evening hours. Invitingly beautiful day or

night, this is an open space to spend the afternoon with friends and

family, host a reception, or hold your large corporate event in this

idyllic atmosphere.

The Courtyard and Garden are outdoor areas that can be used for

spectacular receptions, corporate events, and large, tented events.

Combined with the Greenhouse and Gallery, the winery area can

accommodate events both intimate and grand.

the GREENHOUSEThe Greenhouse is the perfect space in any season. Offering privacy

while bringing a balance of outdoors and indoors, this cozy space

is anchored by our beloved handmade Monterey Cypress table.

Seating 20 comfortably on our eclectic collection of chairs, this

communal table creates the perfect gathering place. During the

warm, endless summer days, the French doors open up and invite

the garden sounds and ocean breeze in. When the weather turns

chilly, this space transforms into a glowing and ultra-cozy space,

equipped with heaters and Bose sound system. A green wall of

indoor ivy and a canopy of nested plants add to the enchantment

of this space, which is unlike any other.

the GALLERYThe Gallery is the hearth of the winery. Its French chateau

architecture features a sweeping 40 foot vaulted ceiling and a

lovingly worn stone floor. Light streams in through the southern

facing wall of windows showcasing the garden and surrounding

mountains during the day, and a cozy fireplace warms the space in

the evenings and colder months. This intimate space houses our

collection of antique objects d’art and embodies understated elegance.

It is optimal for seated ceremonies, bespoke receptions and classic

dinners.

the BARREL ROOMFollow the cobblestone pathway to a secluded courtyard and

through dramatic double doors into the spacious and breathtaking

Barrel Room. This 10,000 sq ft space makes an instant impression

with over 1,000 wine barrels stacked from floor to ceiling. One of the

largest and most unique indoor spaces in the area, the Barrel Room

is incredibly versatile and has proudly been the setting for some

truly memorable events. Transform the Barrel Room into a ballroom,

a live performance space, a movie theater, or an automobile showroom.

Or go small and cozy by reconfiguring the barrels and host a luxurious

seated Winemaker’s Dinner.

the WINE CELLARThe Wine Cellar brings you into the heart of our winemaking

facility. Surrounded by stainless steel tanks, oak wine barrels, and

the fragrant smell of wine, this industrial space transforms into a

memorable dining and reception space. With its mix of modern and

old world winemaking equipment and techniques, the Wine Cellar

offers a perfect location for a cocktail party or intimate dinner with

an immersion and educational component to any event.
