A huge congratulations goes to Leviticus and Gailene who competed at Capricornia trials in Rockhampton for Cross Country. Leviticus came 21st and Gailene 36th in their races. With approximately 100 children in each race from schools

around Woorabinda and Rockhampton it is a fantastic achievement! During PE we’ve been practicing different events for athletics day.

In health we’ve been learning about healthy relationships and how we can maintain these. Miss McBean

We have been very busy in the 5/6 classroom over the past couple of weeks. Our English unit is well under way. We are now moving from reading newspaper articles to writing them. Maths is all about angles and how to measure them. This last week our year 5 students have completed NAPLAN tests. Students completed tests in Reading, Writing, Language Convention as well as Mathematics. All of the students who complete a test tried their very hardest. Mr Chapman

We have been very busy in prep the last few weeks. We had lots of fun with Malachai learning how to make traps, rope and fire!

We also love going to art with Mrs Peterson and making mandalas from shells and rocks and helping put together the school mural.

In maths we having been learning all about 2d and 3d shapes.

In Year One, we have been learning about characters in stories! We read the book ‘Henry Caught Imag-initis’ and we explored the character features of Henry and how he changed from the beginning to the end of the book. This week, we will be starting our first assessment for English this term. We will be reading the book ‘Rose meets Mr Wintergarten’ and students will be writing a character description about Mr Wintergarten. In Mathematics, students have been learning about location and direction, and they all practiced to give Miss Bell instructions on how to get to a certain point in our classroom. We have had such a fantastic term so far J Feel free to come into the classroom at any time and look at your child’s amazing work! We have worked so hard this term.

Hello from Year 2

Our Term 2 learning is moving along nicely. In English students can identi-fy the good and bad characters based on their behaviours and the words used by the author to describe them. In Math students are becoming very good at telling time to the hour and half hour. In HASS students are having fun looking at things from the past and seeing how they have been improved over time.

Miss Rigby

Hello to all the parents, grandparents and carers of the students in year 1/2.

This week in English we are looking at character descriptions. We have been looking at the book Henry has Imaginitis.

On Friday we built our own castle using cardboard boxes and sheets from the book. The students loved this and created their own character to fit into the story as well. 1/2’s were proud to win our attendance award this week and re-ceive a pizza party for achieving 98% attendance for the week. Students were all sent home with homework folders at the end of last term and are encouraged to read and practice sight words each afternoon with an adult to help improve their reading.

I encourage you to come and visit the classroom and look at some of the great work students have been doing.

Kind Regards, Miss Abel

Hello Parents and Guardians,

For the last two weeks, Year 3 have been focussing on persuasion writing (playgrounds vs. ovals, dogs vs. cats, fruit vs. lollies) and everyone has been writing deadly. This unit of persuasion writing will go towards their NAPLAN test, which they sit this week.

So, good luck Year 3 & Year 5!!

Kind Regards,

Miss Sutton.

Year 3

This week has been a very busy week in Year 4/5. Our Year 5 students completed NAPLAN this week and our Year 4 students continued working hard on their persuasive text. In literacy we are learning how to persuade people. We have started to settle back into normal routine and it is good to see that students are continuing to follow instructions and listen to each other.

Emily, Dougie and I have done several home visits to parents to ask for help with behaviour and school work. When we do a home visit, we are hoping to work with you to help your child in the classroom. We invite all parents to regularly come down and work with their child to support them in their learn-ing. Working together as parents, teachers and community helps our students.

We look forward to the next fortnight as we are busy preparing to write our persuasive letter for our assessment. If you would like to visit, please feel free to drop down any time. Mr Richards, Emily and Dougie
