Regulations Requirements
August 29 2018 © AIRBUS S.A.S. All rights reserved. Confidential and proprietary document
• Introduce PREVENTION of an Upset
• Redefine what is an UNDESIRED aircraft state and the STALL
AIRBUS already compliant
with AUPRTA Revision 3
6
Undesired Aircraft State
An Undesired Aircraft State is characterized by unintentional divergences from parameters normally experienced during operations.
An aircraft Upset may involve:
- pitch and/or bank angle divergences, but also
- inappropriate airspeeds for the conditions.

Automated STALL Entry (ASE) as part of IOS Functions
ASE as part as IOS Functions
• Answers to FAA Part 121-Stall requirements &
• FAA Part 60 Simulation Qualification requirements : • UPRT Training environment common to all Airbus • Full Stall function available on the entire flight domain
• Operators flexibility to customize their UPRT Training according to
local Regulations.

Automated STALL Entry Function: Scenario 1
Full STALL Demonstration ( “ASE scenario 1”) During this ASE scenario, the incidence should increase
progressively, without pilot input, until a value (to be adjusted during the tuning phase for each scenario) defined as the full stall.
Upon reaching this value of angle of attack, the simulation shall stabilize, without freezing. The pilot shall have the capacity to take manual control by
making an input on the primary flight controls in order to experience the recovery from the stall

Automated STALL Entry Function: Scenario 2
August 29 2018 © AIRBUS S.A.S. All rights reserved. Confidential and proprietary document
Full STALL Exercise ( “ASE scenario 2) During this ASE scenario, the incidence should increase progressively, without pilot input, until a value beyond the stall (to
be adjusted during the tuning phase for each scenario) at which
point the simulation should freeze. Optional roll off should be available
The pilot shall have the capability to take over control at any time during the scenario. In this case any input on the primary flight
controls during the stall exercise shall interrupt the automation, and
the simulation shall revert to pilot flown
