The objectives of the Centre are to modernize libraries and information centres for information transfer and access, to support scholarship, learning and academic pursuit by establishing a national network of libraries and information centres in universities, institutions of higher learning and R & D institutions in India. Creation of national union database (IndCat), National Repository of Indian Theses and Dissertations (Shodhganga) and Synopses/ Research in progress details (Shodhgangotri), development of an integrated library management software (SOUL 2.0), human resource development, on-site training, providing bibliographic information services, extending technical help and guidance from time to time to academic libraries in automation and networking are some of the major activities of the Centre. The Centre provides access to eresources to Universities, Colleges and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) in INDIA under eShodhSindhu Programme. Under this e-ShodhSindhu programme, the Centre provides access to 15,000+ ejournals, 31,35,000+ e-books and 16 databases to the registered member institutes in India.

The objectives of training is to contribute towards overall development of library personnel through training /workshops; to develop managerial skills and IT competencies in existing personnel in libraries; to develop expertise in handling technology tools and inculcate in library personnel the requisite managerial, analytical, decision-making, planning and organizational skills, and to get the staff trained in accessing online resources and other ICT applications in libraries.

The expected audience will include University Librarians, LIS professionals, IT experts, PhD Holders, Research Supervisors/Scholars, and Students.

Participants should be conversant with basic ICT terminologies, should possess basic knowledge and experience in searching Internet and web-based resources.

The registration fee is Rs. 5900/- (Rupees Five thousand Nine Hundred only) per person without accommodation and Rs. 8,700/- (Rupees Eight Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty only) with accommodation which is inclusive of GST rates. It covers the cost of training programme kit containing training materials, breakfast, lunch and dinner during the training period. The payment should be made through Demand Draft in favour of INFLIBNET Centre payable at Gandhinagar along with filled-in registration form. Fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable.

The Centre will arrange accommodation during the period of training at INFLIBNET Guest House (A/C Room) on twin sharing basis. The participants must send prior intimation and charges for accommodation along with registration fees. The accommodation will be provided first come first basis.

It also provides many International flights from Ahmedabad to across the world. Rail Connectivity: The nearest Railway Station is Ahmedabad Railway Station (Known as Kalupur) which is well connected to all metropolitans and other major cities of India. The Ahmedabad Railway station is located at a distance of 23 Km from the INFLIBNET Centre, Gandhinagar.
