Driving best-for-project outcomes with Spiecapag Lucas Joint Venture

Spiecapag Lucas Joint Venture engaged CNC to help deliver two major projects; the $85m Northern Trunklines project in Queensland and the $140m Eastern Goldfields project in Western Australia.

Fully integrated into the project team, we performed a broad range of environmental duties, minimised downtime and drove better outcomes. CNC’s multi-skilled environmental professionals:• Provided environmental planning and onsite

management.• Undertook fauna handling, erosion and sediment

control, and environmental monitoring.

We also implemented the award-winning ‘Back of the Ute’ soil test procedure on these projects, which quickly identifies soil type to determine topsoil stripping depth during clear-and-grade works.

How we perform

Delivering cost and risk certainty on a Victorian oil pipeline

CNC recently worked on a major pipeline project in Victoria’s South Gippsland region. This project involved replacing a 186km crude oil pipeline between Longford and Long Island Point.

In the early stages of the project, CNC helped to prepare and submit the environmental approvals, permitting and licencing. Our project team then:

• Successfully negotiated access with more than 320landowners.

• Completed property management plans.• Negotiated extra work space and easement

agreements to allow safe and seamlessconstruction.

• Secured all easements and leases.

Specialist advice on Melbourne Water’s capital works projects

CNC has an ongoing relationship with Melbourne Water. We provide specialist advice and guidance on individual projects, as well as capital works planning and strategy.

To date, we have successfully:

• Scoped approvals for over 300 projects to bedelivered over a five-year pricing period.

• Progressed environmental approvals and engagedstakeholders on the $225m Western Treatment Plantupgrade (Stages 1 and 2), avoiding lengthy delaysto the project.

• Supervised and audited construction contractors’engagement activities, providing Melbourne Waterwith confidence that quality practices are in place.

• Been included on Melbourne Water'scommunications panel for strategic engagementand community engagement services.

Capturing, recording and sharing spatial data is vital to engineering projects.

Our experienced team unlocks the full potential of GIS on your projects with creativity and simplicity. We have a strong track record in bringing together technical and discipline-specific information and presenting it in meaningful ways. These outputs enable our clients to easily identify issues and constraints.

As part of planning and feasibility assessments, CNC Project Management can take your vision for a project and find an optimal site or alignment to meet that vision. We have access to key information about the project area from established mapping databases, such as threatened species registers.

We provide options that balance constraints and opportunities to inform project decision-making.

Our in-house GIS team uses the latest technology to capture project information. For example, we use GIS applications on tablet devices for field data collection activities. Data is accurately recorded, stored and made available in a range of useful formats.

This easy-to-use technology increases effectiveness in the field and delivers significant benefits to project planning and design. We offer the following GIS services:• Managed data service – source, manage and maintain spatial data with

high quality cartographic and reporting outputs.• alignment sheet generation – mapping linear projects such as pipelines,

power lines and transport corridors.• terrain modelling – terrain surface generation, line-of-sight and viewshed

analysis, cut and fill calculations.• gPS and field data collection – use of GPS units, tablets and mobile

phones in the field to capture relevant survey data at a suitable scale.• Pipeline alignment mapping – GIS database design, alignment selection

and decision making, alignment sheet generation, construction andsurvey area creation.

• land tenure assessments – GIS desktop based assessments of clientlandholdings and assets.

• Constraints and opportunity analysis – site suitability, analysis and design.• giS support for environmental planning and visualisation – GIS input into
