Calleo is a contracting and recruitment business, specialising in providing skilled labour to Government and large private organisations. The Calleo Group has secured more than 350 resources for clients across Australia, 300 of these for Government Departments. More than 85% of Calleo contractors hold active AGSVA security clearances.
The Calleo team hold more than 150 years of recruitment experience delivering recruitment services to Australian clients, and proudly uphold its values in all interactions with our clients and candidates.
Founded in Canberra, Calleo expanded its delivery to other states in 2016 to assist clients with the delivery of their national programs. Today, Calleo provide more than 170 contractors to clients in Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney.

Calleo is a high growth company; in November 2018 they were listed as the 23rd fastest growing company in Australia (all categories) by the Australian Financial Review (AFR). Since that time, the company has more than tripled in size. To support the growth in demand for our services, Calleo has continued to grow our delivery and support teams.

Calleo’s recruitment and contractor management methodology was developed through many years of local industry experience supporting our clients needs. It provides a consistent yet adaptable platform to identify, assess, supply and support the best talent for our clients. This includes the verification of work rights, security clearances, technical skills and reference checks. The process is specifically designed to support recruitment and the ongoing management of skilled personnel for the Australian market. Calleo’s methodology is detailed on the following page.
Methodology
Calleo implemented daily scrums to leverage its team’s vast experience (150+years) and increase its speed to market. Daily scrums increase Calleo’s capacity, and ensure clients receive the total benefit of Calleo’s experience, on every assignment. In Calleo scrums, the Consultant responsible for the delivery of a requirement briefs the team, instantly accessing their professional networks and gaining referrals of known candidates. Since its implementation in 2018, more than 100 successful assignments have been completed with candidates identified via scrums.

Search and attract
The methods to attract active and passive applicants include databases, print and online media, social media, referral programs, user groups, and consultants’ extensive professional networks and daily Calleo scrums.

Through clearly defined and qualified criteria, applicants are assessed for suitability as candidates. The criteria include skills, experience and cultural fit.
Screen
Candidates are then assessed in more detail using competency based interviews to determine suitability of their skills, relevant competencies, communication style, cultural fit and career aspirations. This also includes the verification of Work Rights, Citizenship/Residency and past and current Police and National Security Clearances.

Engage and guarantee
Calleo will fulfill statutory requirements, including Insurance Coverage, WHS and EEO responsibilities for contract and temporary candidates. Calleo are also positioned to assist with any client pre–induction initiatives.
Retain
Candidate performance monitoring will occur depending on the client’s preferences, and the length of assignment. This includes service calls, site visits and quarterly reporting to meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
Listen to learn
Calleo recognises that improvement and innovation are continual and iterative processes. As such, Calleo pro-actively seek client and candidate feedback to continually improve processes and outcomes.
