1. System requirements

Canossian Calendar is an application for smartphones and tablets with the Android operating system (development and tests have been performed on version 7.0 Easter Egg) is therefore not compatible with IOS systems (Iphone) and Windows Phone.

2. How to download the apk

The software that can be installed on smartphones and tablets with the Android operating system is provided in installation packages or apk (Android Package Kit): these packages can be published on Google Play Store or on other channels such as social networks or company websites, etc.If a package is not published on Google Play Store, the installation procedure is slightly different because, for security reasons, an additional confirmation is required (see point 3).

The packages corresponding to the different versions of the Canossian Calendar can be downloaded at the following web address: http://www.canossian.org, the versions available today (8/9/2018) are the one in Italian, the one in English and the one in Spanish shortly French and Portuguese versions will also be available.You can either download the package using the smartphone or tablet on which you want toinstall the app (recommended) or using a PC connected to the Internet (but in this case you need to copy the apk package on the smarphone or tablet to proceed with the installation ).

3. Installation

Once the apk package has been downloaded (or copied) to the smartphone or tablet, it is installed in this way

3.1 Security settingsAs already mentioned above if a package is not installed through Google Play Store, the system could prevent the installation, this is due to the fact that, when an apk package is published on Google Play Store, the content is checked to prevent it from damaging the device on which it is installed.In some cases, depending on the version of Android, the system, as soon as it detects thatyou are trying to install a package from external source, asks directly to the user if he wants to install this package: just a simple confirmation and installation can proceed .If, on the other hand, the system blocks the installation without giving any further choice, it is advisable to set the smartphone or tablet to also install the apk packages coming from external sources by following these steps

Access the Device Settings Access the security section Activate the entry "Unknown sources"

At this point it is possible to proceed with the installation.

3.2 Locate the packageStart the Files Manager app (or Archive) and locate the location of the apk file: in some cases these files are indicated with the item "Apps not installed" (see the screens below taken from a Samsung smartphone), you can also run a search by setting the name of the app in the search box

Start the file manager Open the App category Expand the list of apps shown as not installed

In the image on the left you can see the apk related to the three versions of the Canossian Calendar, at this point the installation can be done simply by touching the icon corresponding to the package apk that you intend to install.

3.3 InstallationThe installation is very simple, the app does not require any special access, which means that it does not use the Internet connection via WiFi or data connection and access to dataand apps already on the device.

Confirm with Install Choose the Open command to start the app or Finish if you do not intend to use it immediately

Once the app is installed it can be found in the application list of your phone

4. OVERVIEW

The Canossian Calendar app consists of 4 screens navigable through the 4 buttons that are always in the foreground at the bottom of the screen, the active screen is indicated by a black bar below the reference icon.

4.1 HomeIt contains a brief description of the Institute of CanossianDaughters of Charity, the only "movement" possible is the scrolldown to read the proposed text

4.2 CalendarAccessible via the national flag icon,The use is very simple: touching the name of the month or the calendar icon opens a menu with the days of the selected month,  a double touch on a specific day opens the section relating to that day containing a passage of the writings of S. Magdelene combinedwith a passage from the Holy Scriptures.To close the section related to that day just touch the date, to close the menu of the monthjust touch the name of the month previously opened.

With a double touch on the 2nd of May the related section has been opened

By touching the date of 2 May once, the related section closes

NOTE: for a more comfortable reading it is advisable to use the smartphone horizontally

4.3 MusicThe music section contains songs that can be started, paused orstopped by touching the related buttons.

4.4 Historical backgroundThe last section contains a summary of the life of S.Magdelene, you can scroll down the screen to read itscontents.
