Show the Love I was challenged last weekend to show my love for the parishes more. As much as you have shown support for me, I realized that I haven’t shared my love for you as much. I responded by making aspecial e ort to address the three churches at the three Sunday Masses. I realize that I was not at all the Masses this weekend, so I wanted to share my love in this bulletin article.
I’ve given the challenge before for the cluster parishes to love each other more. Just like when there are siblings in a family, mom reminds them they don’t have to like each other, they only have to love each other. Part of loving the other is seeing the good in the other. Are you able to recognize the good in the other parishes of the cluster? Each parish has a history and a culture. Can you appreciate the good things God has done in the parishes of the cluster (including your own)? When I share with you what Ilove about the parishes, it’s an invitation for you to thank God for the gift of your sister parishes.
Dear St. Philip, I love your patience with me as a new pastor. I have found so much support from St Philip that it’s humbling. Just at daily Mass this week, I was very late to Mass because I misread mycalendar. I understand some people had to go to work, but the people who stayed greeted me after Mass with broad smiles and warm wishes. “We were worried you had an accident!” one lady said. Thank you for your patience for me as I learn how to be your pastor!
Dear St. James, I love what I call the “Gospel sway.” It’s not uncommon for St James parishioners to get into the music. Some parishioners are tapping their hand, some are nodding their head. Some parishioners move their whole bodies with the music. I love to see the parishioners get into the music. Thank you for showing your love for the Lord at Mass with your presence, your singing and yourwhole bodies!
Dear Our Lady of Peace, I love your commitment to prayer and adoration. I haven’t shared as much about my calling to the priesthood, but the Adoration Chapel at my home parish played a signi cant part. I don’t know where I would be without the support of those prayers and the witness of the parishioners going to adoration when I was younger. Thank you for your commitment to give that hour to the Lord!
I picked one quality for each parish, but now it’s your turn. What do you see that’s good in the neighboring parish? God is working in each parish, and each parish exists as a part of God’s plan. Ifyou can’t see the good, ask the Lord to help you! Little steps like this will help bring healing during this time of coming together.
Peace,Fr. Matthew

Please join Fr. Matthew in praying this "Prayer for Unity" for our cluster. Heavenly Father, we come before you to give honor and glory to your name. As one Church, as the Body of Christ, we ask that you bless us to find unity with each other, to work together to deliver your message of love and forgiveness. There are wounds, divisions, and struggles with rapid changes, but we seek to all be one, just as you are one with the Son and Holy Spirit. Grant us the patience to work together and bring us together as a family. As Paul reminds us, “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Ephesians 4:3) Help us to build unity and foster peace with one another so that we can be one flock under your Son, Jesus Christ. Send down your Holy Spirit to heal our divisions, confirm us in your truth, and bring our cluster parishes to a greater unity for your glory. We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord. Amen.
