Pre-installation Notes

All of Candela Display Systems’ large format touch screen overlay accessories are tested in the factory for proper touch functionality and accuracy. Prior to final installation, it is recommended that the user test the touch overlay for touch response. To accomplish this, connect the touch overlay to the supporting PC using the supplied USB cable and connect power to the touch overlay using the supplied 5Vdc power supply. Next, load the touch screen driver onto the PC. You will be prompted to reboot the PC after the driver is done loading. Reboot and test to make sure there is a touch response. Calibration of the touch screen can be accomplished after final installation.

Because Candela Display Systems’ large format touch screen overlays are custom made items, variations in installation procedure can occur. Based on environmental variables (i.e. backing and stud placement, ceiling height, flatness of existing walls, etc.), installation may require modifications to the instructions set forth.

It is advised to clean the glass substrate using a 50/50 rubbing alcohol to water solution with a soft towel such as a microfiber cloth.

Candela Display Systems 3 X 2 Interactive Touch Wall Assembly Instructions

STEP 1Remove all of the fan assemblies from both the top and bottom of the touch screen enclosure. Install the fan assembly’s power extension cables to a power source (do not plug the power extension cables into the fan assemblies at this time). Also, plug the USB extension cable into the PC side only (this will be plugged into the touch overlay’s USB/Power pigtail in STEP 5). Next plug the touch overlay’s 5Vdc power supply into a power source, also leaving it unplugged from the touch overlay’s USB/Power pigtail.

STEP 2Lift the touch screen assembly and place it onto the video wall array making sure the rubber gasket material on the upper square support tube rests on the upper monitors as shown in Figure 2. On the wall, mark where the left and right sides of the touch screen enclosure lie and locate the center of the sides. Adhered to each side of the enclosure is a piece of tape noting the centerline. Transfer the centerline mark to the wall using a non-permanent medium. You will need to do this for mounting the side brackets later in STEP 4.

STEP 3With the touch assembly still in place, reach through the fan cut-outs, locate the wall mounting brackets and mark the placement of as many of the mounting holes as possible, as well as the bottom edge of the bracket as seen in Figure 4. This will allow for easier positioning of the brackets. It is imperative these markings are as precise as possible. This will ensure proper alignment between the touch overlay enclosure and the mounting brackets. Once the mounting holes and edge lines have been defined, remove the touch screen assembly from the video wall array and remove all mounting brackets from the touch screen assembly.

Using the marks on the wall that were defined in STEP 2 (side of enclosure and centerline), make a mark 1/8” in from the line that denoted the left and right sides of the enclosure as shown in Detail A . This will account for the thickness of the touch enclosure. The side mounting brackets will then be aligned on these inner marks. The centerline can be found by aligning the mark on the side brackets to the centerline denoted in STEP 2. The top and bottom bracket locations will be denoted by the marks made on the wall by reaching through the vent holes as depicted in STEP 3 / Figure 4. Secure all mounting brackets to the wall using the supplied hardware.

Connect the touchscreen’s Power Supply and USB cable to the touchscreen overlay. Position the touch screen enclosure back onto the video wall array as per STEP 1 making sure to line up the mounting holes of the enclosure with the mounting holes of the wall mount brackets. Secure the touch screen enclosure to the mounting brackets using the screws that were used when removing the brackets from the touch screen enclosure. Also at this time, connect power to the fan assemblies (as described in STEP 1) and install them into their cutouts.
