InformationSchool Closing InformationWhen schools must be closed for an emergency or because of snow or road conditions, an official announcement will be made over various area radio and television stations and will be posted on the district website at www .canajoharieschools .org . Closing announcements will also be made using our school notification system . School may be closed for up to three days without adding days to the school calendar . If there are less than three closings, vacation days will be added in the following order: May 22, April 9, and May 26 .

If more than the allotted snow days are used, the days will be made up during spring break beginning April 17 .

All students can receive free breakfast, lunchAll students enrolled in the Canajoharie Central School District, regardless of family income, can receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2019-20 school year as the district is now part of the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) .

before 10 a .m . on the day of absence .• An excuse should be sent with the student

upon return, giving the student’s name, days of absence, reasons and parent/guardian signature .

Code of ConductThe Board of Education recognizes that learning environments that are safe and supportive can increase student achievement . Canajoharie Central School has an extensive Code of Conduct that applies to all students, school personnel, parents

and visitors when on school property (including school buses/vehicles) or attending any school-sponsored activities . Expectations for behavior are set within the Code of Conduct . Consequences may range from in-school to out-of–school suspension . Long-term suspensions (more than five days) will involve a formal hearing with the superintendent . The Code of Conduct includes information regarding disciplinary infractions and possible consequences determined by the classroom teacher or staff member . The teacher/staff member may use the consequences as a guideline . Included within the Code of Conduct are student rights, definitions of disciplinary infractions, rights of privacy, search of student lockers, alternative education policies, and consequences . Also included are procedures for disciplinary measures and an appeal process . All students are provided a summary of the Code of Conduct using age appropriate language and examples . If surveyed by the state, we will provide group data, not individual data . Parents may exclude their child’s data from group calculations by contacting the school nurse .
