wanted political/social reform in Lower and Upper Canada
Causes:
Lower (Led by Moderate French Canadian Nationalists):- Economic instability- Tension between French (majority) and British
(minorities)
Upper:- Effect of the Lower Canadian rebellion- Unelected officials were making all of the decisions
Effects:
- Thousands of Canadians were killed- John George Lambton wrote a report calling
for a merge of the two Canada’s (Act Of Union 1841)
- “Responsible Government”
