ABOUT THE CHILDREN’S LITERATURE FESTIVAL
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) and Oxford University Press (OUP), in collaboration with the Foundation Open Society Institute (FOSI) Pakistan, are organizing a two-day Children’s Literature Festival (CLF) for the children of Islamabad and Pakistan, on 24 and 25 May 2013 from 9.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. at the Pak-China Friendship Centre.
The CLF co-founded by Baela Raza Jamil and Ameena Saiyid started from Lahore in 2011. In the lasttwelve months, CLF held successful events in Quetta, Peshawar, Bahawalpur and Karachi with an
The Children’s Literature Festival is a free public event. It is an exciting initiative aimed at promoting reading, creativity and critical thinking among the children of the country. It is a torch-bearer campaign; an equalizer for all school systems to address the challenges of learning, reviving a culture of reading, and generating content for textbooks and supplementary materials.
An exciting and fun-filled programme is planned for the CLF Islamabad. It will feature talks, interactive readings, discussions and workshops by well-known children’s authors, poets and resource persons. The festival also includes sessions on creative writing, bookmaking, poetry, comics,
digital, stories, writing book reviews as well as book launches, book fair, theatre, cartoon and puppet shows.
The CLF will unlock the power of reading and will be an interactive event. It will include sessions on:
attendance of over 80,000 children and adults.
