Instructions:

1.Start by coloring your paper roll.

Painting with Ice Materials List:

• towel, newspaper, or something that can get messy

• water

• red, yellow, green, and blue food coloring

• ice cube tray

• popsicle sticks

Instructions:

1. Put down a towel, some oldnewspaper, or something an adultsays is ok to get messy.

2. Carefully pour your water intothe ice cube trays, leaving a littlebit of space towards the top. Doyour best to divide the water upevenly.

3. Add a tiny drop of food coloringto each cube.

4. Mix well and place a popsiclestick into each ice cube mold. Putit in the freezer until it’s frozen(could take up to 4-6 hours).

Instructions:

1. Start with a blank stack of stickynotes. You might want to split onenotepad into thirds, so you end upwith three smaller stacks to makemore than one flip book.

2. Wrap tape around the sticky endof one of the stacks to prevent itfrom breaking apart when you drawin it.

3. Start on the last sticky note anddraw a picture on the bottom half ofthe page. If your drawing is tooclose to the top, where the notesstick together, you might not see itwhen you flip the flip book at theend.

4. Flip to the next sticky note (thesecond-to-last one in the stack) andsee how your first drawing showsthrough the paper.

5. Trace the still parts of the picture,the ones you don't want to move inthe animation.

6. Change the parts of your drawingthat you do want to animate, ormove.

7. Flip to the next page. Repeattracing the still parts and changingthe parts that you are animating.

8. As you fill the notepad from backto front, animate the movementslittle by little, page by page. You canflip your notepad (from back tofront) to check your progress andsee if you want to make changes.

9. Once you finish your series ofdrawings or fill the entire notepad,use your thumb to flip the pagesfrom back to front to watch youranimation.

Zach Challenge – Ping Pong Ball Game Materials List:

• 6 clear glasses filled halfway with water

• ping pong balls

• container or bowl

• timer

Instructions:

1. Collect ping pong balls in a container or bowl.

2. Place 6 clear glasses filled with water on a table about 2 feet in front of you.

3. Set a timer for :20 seconds.

4. Start the timer and see if you can bounce 3 ping pong balls into the glasses in under :20 seconds!

Instructions:

1. Begin with a fresh sheet of paper and a marker or pen.

2. Breathe, get in touch with yourself, and begin to doodle.

3. As you’re breathing, think about how you are feeling today. Express how you are feeling in your doodle.

Winter-in-the-Summertime Snow Materials List:

• baking soda

• shaving cream

• mixing bowl

Instructions:

1. Start by pouring some baking soda into a mixing bowl.

2. Add some shaving cream and knead it into the baking soda.

3. Add more baking soda, then shaving cream. Mix, and repeat.

4. Combine until it becomes light, powdery, and leaves very little mess behind on your hands.

5. Press and mold it like real snow.

Hot Chocolate Snowman Materials List:

• hot chocolate

• large marshmallows

• pretzel rods

• chocolate chips

• candy corn

• toothpicks

Instructions:

1. Take a toothpick and carefully poke it halfway through a marshmallow.

2. Place a second marshmallow on one end of the toothpick and a third one on the other end until it looks like the shape of a snowman.

3. On the bottom marshmallow add two pretzels for legs, and on the middle marshmallow add two pretzels on the sides for arms.

4. With the help of an adult, melt some chocolate chips, then place the melted chocolate into a plastic bag.

5. Cut a little hole at one of the corners of the bag.

6. Squeeze some dots of chocolate onto your snowman for the buttons and the eyes.

7. Finish by adding a piece of candy corn for the nose.

8. Place your snowman on top of your hot chocolate and enjoy! (Be careful of the toothpick, be sure to let whoever is drinking know that it’s inside.)

Popcorn: No Kernel Left Behind Materials List:

• large cooking pot

• popcorn kernels

• vegetable oil

*This activity should be done with the help of a trusted adult* Instructions: 1. Choose a pot large enough to hold the desired amount of popped popcorn. Popcorn has a volume expansion of over 25 times, so 1 tablespoon of kernels yields 1.5 cups of popped corn.

2. Coat the bottom of the pot with oil. Add two kernels to the pot, cover with a lid, and place over medium heat.

3. When the two kernels pop, remove them from the pot, turn off the heat and add the remaining kernels. Shake the pot so the kernels spread out evenly and let it sit for 1 minute.

4. Turn the heat back to medium. Leave the cover slightly ajar so steam can escape.

5. When it’s been 10 seconds since you heard the last pop, that was the last kernel. Your popcorn is ready to eat!

Create with Just One Shape Materials List:

• Light colored or white piece of paper

• colored paper

• safety scissors

Instructions:

1. Choose a shape you’d like to explore, like a square, rectangle, triangle or circle. Cut your selected shape from the colored paper.

2. Start arranging the shapes on a light piece of paper. Experiment with grids and patterns.

3. Play with borders. Try working with diagonals and corners. See how your shapes look with different types of spacing or combine shapes to make new ones.

4. When you’ve created a composition you like, glue down your pieces. Or take a picture and save your shapes for another day.

Zach Challenge – Candy Patterns Materials List:

• 1 serving of small colored candies

• clear plastic cups

• timer

Instructions:

1. Place six clear cups in a row.

2. Place one colored candy in front of each cup to create a pattern.

3. Using only one hand, copy the pattern by sorting the remaining candies into the plastic cups in under :30 seconds.

Heart Lion Craft Materials List:

• glue stick

• safety scissors

• black marker

• googly eyes (optional)

• black pen

• orange and yellow paper

Instructions:

1. Draw a large heart on the yellow sheet of paper. Then, cut it out using the scissors.

2. Draw 5 smaller orange hearts on the orange paper. Try to make them all about the same size. Then cut them out using the scissors.

3. Arrange the orange hearts so that they all line up equally.

4. Place the yellow heart upside down on top of the orange hearts. Then, glue it down.

5. Cut a small heart from the orange paper and glue it down for the nose.

6. Glue on googly eyes or draw eyes with a marker.

7. Use the black marker to draw a mouth and eyebrows.

• spoon Instructions:

1. Start by scooping a layer of yogurt into the bottom of the cup.

2. Add a layer of cereal.

3. Add a layer of fruit.

4. Repeat the layers of yogurt, cereal, and fruit until you reach the top of the cup.

1. Decorate your box or file folder however you want.

Mini Moody Me Materials List:

• 2 paper cups

• marker

• scissors or craft knife *This activity should be done with the help of a trusted adult*

Instructions:

1. Draw a simple design of your face on one of the paper cups.

2. With the help of an adult, carefully cut out the middle section of the face.

3. Place the second cup into the first and draw a mood. Draw any expression you’d like!

4. Rotate the paper cup until a new black space appears and draw more expressions in the opening.

NY Chocolate Egg Cream Recipe Materials List:

• tall glass

• long spoon

• straw (optional) Ingredients:

• 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup

• 1/3 cup cold whole milk

• 2/3 cup cold plain seltzer

• pretzel rod (optional)

Instructions:

1. Add chocolate syrup to glass. Pour milk on top. Use long spoon to stir until well combined.

2. Pour in cold seltzer. Stir the mixture quickly until well combined and thick layer of foam forms on top, about 30 seconds. Serve immediately with straw (if using) and pretzel rod (if using).

Inside Out Sandwich Materials List:

• 2 plates

• knife

Ingredients:

• tomato

• bread

• mayo (optional)

• cheese

*This activity should be done with the help of a trusted adult* Instructions:

1. With the help of an adult, cut the tomato into slices like this: Put the tomato between 2 plates and carefully slide a knife between the 2 plates away from you.

2. Spread a little mayonnaise on each slice of bread. If you don’t like mayonnaise, you can use a little butter, or nothing at all.

3. Wash and dry a couple leaves of lettuce.

4. Assemble the sandwich. Place the 2 pieces of bread together, mayo side out. Then add the lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Enjoy!

Create Scratch Art Materials List:

• cardstock

• crayons

• paperclip or toothpick

Instructions:

1. Use light-colored crayons to cover the cardstock. You may want to make a striped or geometric pattern.

2. Cover the light-colored crayon with black crayon, filling the entire card. Darken as much as possible to create a good contrast.

3. Think about a design you’d like to create.

4. Use a toothpick or the end of a partly unfolded paper clip to scratch through the black crayon, revealing your design in the colors underneath.

Fool Proof Slime Recipe Materials List:

• ½ cup liquid starch

• ½ cup clear or white glue

• ½ cup water

• food coloring

• shaving cream

• cups or bowls

• measuring cups

• spoon or fork

Instructions:

1. Add glue and water to a bowl or cup and mix well to combine.

2. Add one drop of food coloring.

3. Add liquid starch, mix well and you will see your slime start to form.

4. Lay your slime on a flat surface and knead for 1 minute.

5. Add two squirts of shaving cream and knead for 1 minute.

Tie a Square Knot Materials List:

Instructions:

1. Cross the right end over and then under the left end. It should look like the start of when you tie a shoelace.

2. Cross the left end over then under the right end. Then pull tight.

3. Keep practicing! Right over left and tuck under. Then left over right and tuck under. Pull tight and you’re done!

How to Make a Banjo Materials List:

• tape

• recycled jar or oatmeal cap

• craft stick (or popsicle stick)

• rubber bands

• markers

Instructions:

1. Wrap rubber bands around the jar cap.

2. Tape the back of the rubber bands to keep them in place.

3. Glue or tape the jar cap to one end of the craft stick.

4. Use markers to customize the craft stick.

5. Jam with your new banjo!

Make Your Plastic Cups Fly! Materials List:

• 2 plastic cups

• tape

• 4 rubber bands

Instructions:

1. Stack the cups with their base sides touching and secure with tape. Make sure it’s tight!

2. Interlock the rubber bands to create a long elastic rope.

3. Wrap the rubber band rope tightly around the middle of the 2 cups.

4. Hold one end of the rubber rope in one hand, and the cups in the other. Pull back and shoot it like a sling shot. The faster you get it spinning, the more lift you’ll create!

Tie Dye Cookies Materials List:

• measuring cups

• mixing bowls

• 5 smaller bowls

• food coloring (suggested - plant-based food coloring)

• mixing spoon or kitchen mixer

• parchment paper

• baking sheet

• knife

Ingredients:

• 1 cup softened butter

• 1 ½ cups sugar

• 1 egg

• vanilla extract

• 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

• 1 tsp baking soda

• ½ tsp baking powder

1. In a large bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until smooth.

2. Beat in the egg and a dash of vanilla extract.

3. Gradually add the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix until combined.

4. Divide the cookie dough into 5 bowls and carefully add 8-10 drops of different food coloring to each bowl. Mix until they’re well blended.

5. Roll each color dough between your hands to make long snake-shaped pieces.

6. Layer them together and roll it in some parchment paper to form a log. If the dough is sticky to the touch, chill in the refrigerator until it’s firm enough to cut.

7. With the help of an adult, cut the log into 1/4-inch-long pieces. Arrange on a lined baking sheet and place in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.

8. Remove from the oven, let cool and enjoy!

1. Ask family members to select their favorite small toy and use objects from around the house to create their own homemade habitat.

2. Use your imagination to turn unexpected objects into important parts of your habitat scene.

Make a Tie Pouch Materials List:

• necktie (must get permission from an adult to cut up and use)

• fabric glue or a needle and thread

• scissors

• Velcro

Instructions:

1. Using the wider end of the tie, cut a piece off that’s about 7 inches long. Be sure to leave enough room for a seam at the bottom, about ½ inch.

2. Turn the fabric inside out and stitch or glue the bottom and the sides together.

4. Flip the fabric right side out and glue a piece of Velcro to the triangle. Let dry and have fun with your new pouch!
