Camp Chief Ouray (CCO) hosted its first campers in 1908. Since that time, it has continued to help children make the transition to adulthood by teaching youth to go beyond their comfort zone and by helping them discover their own leadership potential and social skill necessary for success.

We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience CCO and we are dedicated to providing financial assistance to campers who need it. Every dollar donated to CCO has a lasting impact on the families we serve. The stories throughout this impact report are just a small snapshot of how your support changes the lives of kids and families.

Through a strong tradition of high-quality and safe programming, CCO provides growth in spirit, mind and body in an awe-inspiring setting with a Christian environment. We are proud to launch into the world these young leaders who exemplify our core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith.

Through Camp Chief Ouray’s annual international trip program, 10 youth experienced the history and culture of Peru.

Peru is a beautiful country full of phenomenal people and a legendary history. It is also a country with immense poverty. Experiences like this CCO trip to Peru provide the opportunity for each camper to know and understand our world better and to see how we can have a positive impact on others.

Scholarships give kids, who would otherwise not have the opportunity, a chance to experience Camp Magic. CCO is a place where kids can be their BEST SELF. It’s a no judgment environment where everyone is able to be who they truly are.

THE CCO EXPERIENCE

Our YMCA of the Rockies leadership vision for Camp Chief Ouray is to improve the camper experience, welcome more campers and build a strong sense of community among campers and camper families.

We want to serve children for generations to come and expand our reach each year, so that more children can experience summer camp.
