URBAN REDESIGN PROPOSAL Student Team | Wasco, CA | September 2014-December 2014

The City of Wasco aims to identify the Highway 46 corridor as having a diverse range of uses, and aesthetics through the built and natural environment, offered to the community members as well as visitors. Highway 46 hopes to provide linkages along the corridor, as well as into the downtown district, in addition to offering multiple modes of transportation.

The Project area is located on the east end of the corridor, and is currently zoned for industrial usage. The proposed development includes an agriculture trade school, a youth center, student housing, and commercial uses at either end of the project area. This eastern portion provides the potential to act as a gateway in to the City of Wasco. My teaam wanted to create an appealing, multi-functional place for both visitors and residents to enjoy.

Myself and another student worked on the sketch-up component for this project.

URBAN DESIGN REDEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL Student Team | Morro Bay, CA | April 2014-June 2014

The vision of this site is to make Morro Bay an attraction area where people stay and engage in various activities, and explore the area. For the site our focus was on redeveloping the Boardwalk area and creating linkages throughout the site. By creating more activity and open space on the Boardwalk, it would promote more of an attraction. And by creating better linkages, it would promote and enhance walkability in Morro Bay, as well as create a comfortable pedestrian-friendly area.

In developing the site plan for the area, our team kept in mind main objectives of the project which included:Open space, and green areas, aesthetics that was coherent with the characteristics of the surrounding area.enhance the linkages on the site, create better walkability. and promote sustainability by creating opportunities of different modes of transportation.

I contributed to the illustrative site plan and was responsible for the cross section for this project.

BART STATION PROXIMITYSan Luis Obispo,CA | January-March 2015

Jackson | Portfolio

In this project I looked and compared race and house-hold income within a 1/4 mile radius(comfortable walking distance) of BART stations. I was looked to see if there was any correlation between the two. I found that many minorities and those whos income under is about $35,000 live near BART stations.

By using GIS I was able to map bart stations and and cenus data. I then created a 1/4 mile buffer for walking distance to a station.

EPA RAIN WATER CHALLENGE | THE LIVING MACHINE Student Team | San Luis Obispo, CA | September 2015-December 2015

Jackson | Portfolio

The rainwater challenge consisted of student teams that design and create innovative green infrastructure projects for their campus. This year the project design addresses the impacts of climate change and effectivley managing stormwater runoff.

Our project is a living machine that acts as a two part system. The main living machine component will treat greywater from two on campus housing complexes. The other living machine component will be integrated into a creek that runs through campus, which will help treat storm water. The purpose of our project is to treat water from campus facilities, as well as treat surface runoff, and stormwater. Additionally we want to have the living machine an area of education, where students can learn about the function and purpose of a living machine and be hands on.

California Polytechnic State University is currently undergoing an update of its Master Plan. With changes and adaptations happening with the Master Plan update, our group felt our project could be implemented into the the Master Plan.

URBAN DESIGN VISION PROJECT Student Team | San Luis Obispo, CA | January 2014-March 2014

Plaza Del Sol is a mixed use project located just North of downtown San Luis Obispo. The main intersections are Higuera, Toro, Monetery and Santa Rosa. There is a combination of commercial, grocery, and residential on the site. It is in a major location because it is located minutes away from the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo.
