CuttingWOF = Width of FabricFussy Cut = Carefully cut a selected or specific section from the fabric in the size given.

Fabric A, fussy-cut: 1 center square, approximately 151⁄4” x 151⁄4” (38.74cm x 38.74cm), trying to cut as much as is possible of the ring of roses that surrounds the center medallion at the outer edges. Make sure the design is centered and make note of the final cutting measurement of this square for step 1 in Sewing Instructions below.

Fabric B, cut:1 strip 2” x WOF (5.08 cm x WOF) for the cameo frame 6 strips, 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) for the binding

Fabric C, cut: 13 strips 21⁄4” x WOF (5.40cm) x WOF), then sub-cut:244 squares, 21⁄4” x 21⁄4” (5.40cm x 5.40cm) for the block corners

Fabrics D, cut:2 strips, 6” x WOF (15.24cm x WOF), then sub-cut:10 squares, 6” x 6” (15.24cm x 15.24.cm)

Fabrics E-H, cut from EACH:1 strip, 6” x WOF (15.24cm WOF), then sub-cut:6 squares, 6” x 6” (15.24cm x 15.24.cm)

Sewing InstructionsNote: All seam allowances are 1⁄4”-wide (.64cm). Sew all seams with right sides together (RST).

1. Using the actual cutting measurement of the FabricA square, cut 2 strips from the 2” x WOF (5.08cm xWOF) strip of Fabric B. Sew to opposite sides of theFabric A square. Press the seam allowances towardFabric B. Measure the width of the resulting panelthrough the center and cut 2 strips from theremainder of the Fabric B strip. Sew to the top andbottom edges of the panel and press the seamallowances toward Fabric B.

Trim the panel to 17” x 17” (43.18 x 43.18cm), making sure the Fabric B borders that frame the square are the same width and the Cameo panel is centered (Fig. 1).

2. Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of each 21⁄4” x 21⁄4” (5.72cm x 5.72cm) Fabric C square.

3. To make each Snowball Block, choose a 6” x 6”(15.24cm x 15.24.cm) print square and position a 21⁄4”x 21⁄4” (5.72cm x 5.40cm) square with right sidestogether (RST) at each of the four corners as shownin Fig. 2. Stitch on each of the marked lines and thentrim away each corner 1⁄4” (.64cm) from the stitchingline. Press the triangles toward the seam allowances(Fig. 2).

4. You should have a total of (61) 6” x 6” (15.24cm x15.24.cm) Snowball Blocks: 10 Fabric D; 6 each of Fabrics E, F, G, and H; 5 of Fabric I; 4 each of Fabric J-N; and 2 of Fabric O.

5. Arrange the Snowball blocks in horizontal rowsaround the Fabric A/B Cameo square.

6. Sew the blocks together in the rows shown. Press theseam allowances in opposite directions from row torow. Sew the rows together in each section and pressthe seam allowances toward the bottom edge ofeach completed section.

7. Sew Sections B and C to the edges of the framedcameo and press the seam allowances toward thecameo.

8. Add the Sections A and D to the top and bottomedges of the B/Cameo/C section and press the seamallowances toward the Cameo.

9. Refer to the Quilt Top Assembly illustration. Jointhe 3” x WOF (7.62cm x WOF) Fabric P strips withdiagonal seams to make one long strip. Press theseams open. Measure the quilt-top length throughthe center and cut 2 side border strips from the longstrip to match. Sew to the long edges of the quilt topand press the seam allowances toward the borders.

10. Measure the panel width through the center and cut2 border strips from the remainder of the long FabricP strip. Sew to the top and bottom edges of thequilt top and press the seam allowances toward theborders.

Finishing11. Prepare a 52” x 68” (132.08cm x 172.72cm) backing

panel and press.12. Layer the quilt top with the batting and backing.

Baste the layers together, using your favorite bastingmethod.

13. Quilt-in-the-ditch of the horizontal and verticalseamlines and then do additional quilting in theshapes and borders as desired.

14. Trim the batting and backing even with the quilt-topedges.

15. Join the Fabric B 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) stripswith diagonal seams to make one long strip. Pressthe seam allowances open. Fold the strip in halflengthwise with wrong sides facing and press.

16. Sew the binding strip to the quilt top with right sidestogether and raw edges even. Miter the corners asyou reach them. Turn the binding over and aroundthe seam allowances and hand-stitch to the back ofthe quilt.
