POTENTIAL CONSUMERS• Cambodia consists of 15 million consumers• Every person in Cambodia is a potential consumer directly or indirectly but the major portion of

consumers is the rising middle class and higher income sector. This makes up 32% of the population as of 2015.

• Garment Industry: 80% of the country's exports

• Agriculture accounted for 90 percent of GDP in 1985 and employed approximately 80 percent of the work force. Rice is the principle commodity.

• Major secondary crops include maize, cassava, sweet potatoes, groundnuts, soybeans, sesame seeds, dry beans, and rubber.

• Tourism sector generated a revenue of US$1.594 billion, which made up approximately 16% of the country's GDP

NATURAL RESOURCES• Forests provide tropical wood, rubber and oak.

• The Batdambang province contains zircons, sapphires, and rubies

• The central area contains salt, manganese, and phosphate.

• The waterways provide trade routes Due to massive deforestation, the natural resource of wood has greatly diminished and will potentially cease to be a resource in the future.

GEOGRAPHICAL FACTS • Closer to the borders of different countries giving jobs to both people in Cambodia and Vietnam.

• Special Economic Zones provide a well put together structure to build a manufacturing plant in.

• Takeo has roads, railroads, and waterways for good means of transportation.

• Fertile soil and stable irrigation systems.

Cambodia’s Economy• Cambodia has a variety of economic strategies.

• Cambodia's economy consists of private freedom, government control, and is centrally planned, but is currently leaning towards an open market system.

• Parliamentary elections are held every five years.

• There is no term limit for the king or prime minister.

• The king has no political power, but is the symbol of peace, unity, and eternity for Cambodia.

How Stable is Cambodia’s Government?• Cambodia's peace, security, and economic factors are more focused on than the rights of the people in Cambodia.

• Hun Sen is responsible for the main peace-building in Cambodia. Around 3,500 peacekeepers have been sent out around the world by Hun Sen to bring stability and peace.

• Poverty has been reduced, political areas are more stable, and the economy has grown over the years.

• Landmines are also trying to be abolished by Hun Sen.

• Cambodia does lack in the area of improving labor and education, but is very stable to build a plant in. If the manufacturing plant is placed in the correct location, investors from Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam can be brought in.

Cambodia’s Financial Condition • Cambodia is a fairly poor country

• 4.8 million are considered to be at poverty level

• 90% of the 4.8 million live in rural areas, depending on agriculture for their occupation

• 12% of the people are landless due to land eviction by large corporations.

• Two thirds of the country's 1.6 million rural households face seasonal food shortages each year.

• Over half a million people work in garment factories, 90% are women surviving on $3 a day or less.

Unemployment in Cambodia • Cambodia's unemployment rate is 1.4%. • Unemployment is not a large issue because so many people are willing to

work. • The majority of Cambodia’s population ranges between the ages of 15-64,

and is employable.

Cambodian Currency • Cambodian riel is the unit of currency Cambodians use.

• One U.S. dollar would amount to around 4,000 riels.

sources of transportation in Cambodia.

• Buses are not a very common means of daily transportation, but are a good source if someone is touring around the country or traveling long distance.

Telecommunication• 94% of Cambodians own their own cells phones, while 99% are contactable through another

type of phone.

• The number of people in Cambodia accessing the Internet from their mobile devices increased by 1.3 million during 2015, though the number of mobile phone subscribers increased by over 4,500 during the same period, according to figures released from the telecommunications ministry.

• More than 6.3 million people used their smartphone to access the Internet in December 2015 compared to 5 million in February 2015.

• Mobile phone subscribers increased from 20,536,204 to 20,540,736.

• 4,100,000 Internet users as of June, 2016; 25.7% of the population, according to I. (Internet World Stats, 2016). (Hard-Wired as opposed to phone access).
