Calcom is an all around technology support company. They offer network/IT services, virus & spyware removal, and other remote hardware and software services.

The staff size of Calcom is currently seven employees.

The customers who use their service are either at home or corporate users who are having computer issues. Some clients may need up to 400 computers serviced, and some may only need one.

Social media and other networking aspects.

Attracting customers usually comes from various outlets. Word of mouth, articles posted about us on technology sites, and many different social media outlets, such as Facebook, Twitter, or even instagram. Client retention rate is about 98%

It’s the amount the company made overall when adding together profits and loss.

Within the 2014-2015 business year, Calcom made around $500,000 dollars.

As stated by their CFO, to work at Calcom one must have a user-friendly personality. IT and hardware servicing work can be stressful depending on the issue so it’s good to have a level head and a good understanding of what you’re doing. Always be willing to adapt to new technology and onsite training.

How to Bring in More Revenue?

The main plan for improving sales and revenue is to keep the same services but also tweak them and adding new aspects to the company such as film production and social media jobs.

Human Resources and Conflict Resolution

Calcom not being a large company does not have a traditional HR department. Since the CEO and CFO are the same person in this situation, Mr. Isiah Nathaniels, he also handles HR and conflict issues. His main method for handling this is peaceful resolution. Listening to both sides of a situation and handling an issue accordingly. Treating people how you would like to be treated instead of treating them like corporate when your company is at a very personal level.

Usual Hires

Usually Mr.Nathaniels of Calcom hires college students. This is due to the lack of IT jobs that allow people to learn the job and gain experience as opposed to already having experience. Having it helps but personal and specialized onsite training and a will to learn helps both parties. This gives a boss a deeper understanding of what his or her employees are capable of and the type of jobs to assign them to.

Other Hiring Requirements

● Onsite training aside one requirement is that you either accel in a technology field and that you have that field as your major, or that you have any technology related degree.

● Another requirement is to earn A+ certification so that you at least understand the basics of the field. The certifications show who is serious about the job.

Taxes for a small size company

Stated by Mr.Nathaniels in the interview, his company taxes are usually handled by his accountant and billing department who handle those financial aspects of the business.

Charitable Donations

Calcom as a company does donation drives and the company is big on supporting the community and its efforts to grow. Places Calcom has done donations include Delaware State University, African American Chambers of Commerce. Also donations to athletic clubs and art related organizations.

Market?Future Plans

Calcom currently has no plans of expanding into the international market.

They don’t offer anything that’ll stand out on the international market such as building motherboards or processors.

The future is unpredictable and it may happen after grip on the American market has been achieved

A recent trend that was noted, especially when the economy took a down-turn was the change from commercial marketing to using social media. This transitioned into departments being made in the technology industry that are specifically for marketing on social media along with other forms of advertisement.

Budget

As stated previously social media yields an ability to attract consumers while saving money. This also allows marketing dollars to go more towards larger advertising forms. This includes commercials, website and newspaper ads, among others.

Financial Do’s/Don’ts of Small-Mid size Business

You must understand that not all money made is your money.

Some of that money goes to the company, maintaining the company itself.

Some of that revenue must be used for payroll, funding services, and advancing the organization.

In Calcom’s case they must always make sure they can cover the cost of materials to complete a job, otherwise the job itself is either dropped or is unable to be completed. Example: Wiring a whole building for ethernet usage.

Where CalCom services?

Calcom services parts of the tri-state area. More specifically Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Servicing more of the Delaware and New Jersey area due to having a less competitive market in those areas, as opposed to the market in Philadelphia.
