Please return to the Front Desk at the end of your tour. Thank you.
1993The Cal Poly Recreation Center opened as the first comprehensive center of its kind in the CSU system and became an instant destination for Cal Poly students and community. The facility was made possible by the generous support of Cal Poly students who voted for a student fee referendum in 1986.
2012The expanded Recreation Center opened in January 2012 as a welcoming destination for the Cal Poly community to relax, recreate and socialize. The space was created through the shared vision, hard work and financial commitments of Cal Poly students.
2008The fee referendum resulted in overwhelming student support, with 75% of those voting in favor of the renovation/expansion of the Recreation Center. The students approved a self-imposed fee increase of $65 per quarter and agreed that they would not pay the increased fee until the renovation/expansion was completed.
2007ASI Student Government held discussions with student groups regarding the over-crowding at the Recreation Center. Student feedback led to a proposed increase to the Cal Poly University Union (UU) fee, which is a part of students’ quarterly tuition, to fund the renovation and expansion of the Recreation Center.
