What’s the Purpose of the CAHSEE?
• to improve student achievement in high school
• to help ensure that students who graduate from high school can demonstrate grade-level competency in reading, writing, and mathematics.

• Tuesday, March 16, 2010– English Language Arts Test
(8am-12pm but untimed)
• Wednesday, March 17, 2010– Math Test (8am-12pm but
untimed)

• Writing Section– Writing strategies– Applications (essay)– Conventions

Results
• Results are returned about 8 weeks after the test.
• Opportunities– Every 10th grader must take the CAHSEE– 2 more opportunities Junior Year– 3 more opportunities Senior Year
• If you do not pass one section, you must take just that one section again.
• AVID has had a 100% passing rate for the past 2 years.
