Meet the staff

Scheme ImprovementsWWH has invested £545,000 in Caerau Court Road over the past three years, with improvements including:
• new doors and windows for the maisonettes and new windows for the flats.
• new bathrooms in the flats and maisonettes
• improved communal lighting in the flats, maisonettes and tower block.
• all communal areas have been painted.
• new flooring in the flats and tower block, with new flooring to be fitted to the maisonettes’ external walkways by the end of 2012.
WWH has also spent a total of £28,000 on reactive repairs at the scheme, with works including:
• new, improved communal front doors for individual blocks, making security better for residents
• gating the gulley - bringing greater security, cutting vandalism and youth annoyance
• providing a new communal bin store for the 3 blocks of flats - making a cleaner environment for the disposal of waste
• providing additional waste bins to increase holding capacity
• installing improved CCTV, with additional cameras and greater recording capacity.
Welcome to Caerau Court Road News Issue 1. During the past two years Wales & West Housing (WWH) has been working in partnership with residents of Caerau Court Road to improve the scheme as a whole, writes Andrew Pritchard, Housing Officer.All of the issues raised have been put together in an action plan which outlines our plans to improve the scheme. There have been significant improvements at Caerau Court Road over the last couple of years.

Police and Communiti es Together (PACT) meeti ngs
PACT meeti ngs are an opportunity for local people to have their say on what matt ers most to them in their area. Prioriti es are set at each meeti ng - these are problems that we try to solve in partnership within a set period of ti me. Caerau Court Road is currently a PACT priority under general youth annoyance and anti social behaviour by Caerau Lane shops and the streets surrounding it.
The next PACT meeti ng will be held on 31st January 2013 at Western Leisure Centre, from 7pm-8pm.

Caerau Pott ers The Caerau Pott ers are a small but growing group of residents with a real interest in gardening, who have created a gardening group to improve the area in which they live. Their aim is to become sustainable within the community through growing their own fruit and vegetables.
If other residents have an interest in gardening and wish to set up a similar project, or expand their existi ng project, please contact Andy Pritchard.
Reporti ng crimeand anti social behaviourIf you witness a crime or anti social behaviour within or around the Caerau Court Road area please call 999. If it’s not an emergency you can report anti social behaviour by calling 101 - any calls to 101 will be used as evidence for the Police to put resources into a specifi c area.
Examples of the type of calls you might make to 101 are:
• Reporti ng your car as stolen;• Damage to your property; or• You suspect drug use
or drug dealing in your neighbourhood.
One 2 One MoniesWWH receives rental income from the telecomms company for allowing the mobile telephone mast to be placed on the roof of the tower block. These monies are only used for the Caerau Court Road estate, and can be for general scheme improvements or initi ati ves from residents. We will consult residents on any major spend of the One 2 One monies. If you have any suitable suggesti ons regarding the use of monies from the One 2 One fund, then please contact Andy Pritchard.
Fancy a cuppa and a chat?
Tower Block residents now run a coff ee morning every Thursday from 11am - 1pm. All are welcome - it’s completely free, and you can also fi nd something good to read thanks to the book swap club.
