Chapter 2. Introduction When starting the integration process, items from the candy bill of quantities can be allocated to activities in the Candy Program. The integration process generates an accurate forecast cashflow for the project, forecast for bill items, individual candy resources, or candy cost codes. Any changes to the program or the estimate will affect the forecast.

2.1 Three methods of linking bills and programs

Depending on the information and time available the link can be established using the following three methods.

BOQ PROGRAM

BOQ PROGRAM

PROGRAM BOQ

The Estimator needs to create a cashflow/forecast – Not the best method, but is quick and fairly accurate. A BOQ is not an indication of how the work is to be done but only a measurement of the work. Civil bills are more activity based. This process automatically links the bill items to the activities

This can be time consuming but is the most accurate. The Candy estimate includes the money/resource, and the program includes the activity durations and sequence

E.g. Design and build where a BOQ can be priced and created from a program. This process automatically links the activities to the bill items

Page 13: C301- Integration of Estimating and Planning - Fileburstccs.fileburst.com/supportfiles/c301-integration-of-estimating&planning.pdf · Integration of Estimating and Planning 2. 1.2

Chapter 3. Establishing the link

3.1 Program from a BOQ

Do this:

Recover the Tender BOQ and Program job from the CD Access the Candy BOQ structure to analyze the following (heading levels, item numbers, nett rates and worksheets) Go into Planning and create a new program called BOQ Import and access the Standard Barchart view Activities in the program can be made from bill item descriptions and bill section headings Three options to make activities are available when importing a BOQ, namely: At section headings above bill items At section level __

For every bill item

Do this:

Open the Standard Barchart by selecting Documents > Planning Documents> 1.1 Standard Bar Chart

Import the estimate bill by clicking Estimate >Import Estimate Bill, select option at section headings above bill items

BOQ PROGRAM The Estimator needs to create a cashflow/forecast – Not the best method, but is quick and fairly accurate. A BOQ is not an indication of how the work is to be done but only a measurement of the work. Civil bills are more activity based. This process automatically links the bill items to the activities

12.

Chapter 4. View and edit the links

As described earlier, the bill items are automatically linked to the activities, thus, should a rate of a BOQ item change, the value on the activity to which it is linked will change. Two views exist in the link and forecast application. These views can be used to see and edit the linked data, namely:-

4.1 Editing the links between the bill and the program

Do this: Access the link and forecast application select documents>link and forecast documents.

Open document 3.1 BOQ with Barchart allocations.
