Spring & Summer Internships and
College Travel Grants
With the university's recent announcement to open domestic internships during
spring and summer terms, the College of Life Sciences is pleased to offer Life
Science Internship and Travel Grants. The college offers up to $300 domestic travel
awards for student academic internships outside the local BYU area.
Students applying for college support should first apply for funding from the department by completing the application on the travel grant website. Once the
department has approved funding for travel, the application will be forwarded to
the college for consideration.
Requirements for Eligibility: The student is an undergraduate in the College of
Life Sciences or a Neuroscience major.
The student will enroll in the appropriate course and sign up for appropriate
credit hours. Students who are completing an academic internship must be
enrolled in at least 1.0 credit of a 399R course or higher, with the exception of
PWS 199R; or in an approved College sponsored Study Abroad course. Please
work with your program or department internship coordinator to enroll in the
correct course and credits hours.
Job shadowing, job experiences or volunteering are not eligible for funding.
With the exception of NDFS 620R enrollees, graduate students are not eligible
to apply for this grant. Application Deadline for Spring: April 1st TOMORROW

TestPerfect is inviting students to the first class free (live broadcast or in-person). Their instructor, Phil Hatch, scored perfect on the GRE, perfect on the LSAT, and 790 out of 800 on the GMAT. They'll explain what to expect on test day, how to prepare for the tests, and explain math, verbal, and strategy skills.

STUDY #1
My name is Jesse King, and I’m a graduate student working with Professor Kevin John (BYU School of Communications), and Audrey Halversen (master’s student, BYU School of Communications). We are conducting a study on virtual reality and anxiety, and we are looking for participants who meet the following criteria: they identify as people of color and are over 18 years old. Participants will be paid $10 for their participation, which will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes. All research activities will take place at the BYU Communications BioComms (233B) lab in the Brimhall Building on BYU campus. This week — Thursday, April 1st, at 7:00pm — The BYU Impact Investing Association is excited to hear from Sarah Sassoon of Accion Venture Labs.
Founded in 1961, Accion is a global nonprofit investor headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts that aims to increase financial inclusion for underserved populations. The firm chooses to invest in innovative financial technology startups that improve the accessibility, quality, and affordability of financial services across the world. Accion operates in the fintech, impact investing and B2B payments sectors.
Prior to Accion, Sarah worked at Tamweelcom — a microfinance institution based in Amman, Jordan — while simultaneously pursuing an MA in International Economics and International Development at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She also holds a BA in Middle East Studies and International Relations from Cornell University.
At Accion, Sarah manages fund operations, relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and supports business development, marketing, and fundraising. She also plays an active role in building deal flow and analyzing investments.

Anxiety and depression are growing issues among kids and teenagers. United Way’s EveryDay Strong project is on a mission to empower parents and other caring adults to know how to build resilience in children.
We’ve already reached over twenty thousand families in Utah and we’re still spreading. We're looking to fill two positions related to public health communications.

One is a 10-15 a week volunteer internship to help us remix social media content and reach more families; the other is a full-time position with a living stipend and education award with the purpose to create outreach materials.
