The theme of this book is that sometimes doing the right thing can hurt the people around you. It can hurt people like family or friends. In this book Brady’s friends are hurt because they are sent to a camp to do time. Brady learns that doing the right thing can be hard. He could either tell the police or protect his friends.
The mood of this book stays around the same. The mood for the beginning is either suspenseful or sad. During the next few chapters the mood is calm because there is not much that happens. The last chapters are sad because J.T and Digger get sent to the camp.
My interpretation of this book is that doing the right thing can be hard. The author tells that you should do the right thing even if it hurts the people around you. If it is major crime you should tell the police. You should do the right thing, instead of protecting your friends. This is my interpretation of the book, Red Kayak.
