Standalone versus Nested?Each ILM qualification is a recognised and respected achievement in itself and completely standalone. However, they are also nested qualifications which, like Russian dolls, fit inside each other. What do the levels mean?The level of a qualification is a measure of its degree of difficulty. In leadership terms, the starting point is level 2 and focuses on good people and task management skills. Level 3 is supervisory and includes wider responsibilities, such as customers, equipment, budgets, larger teams etc, while levels 4 and 5 are for middle management and seek to develop new ways of thinking and operating.
