Big Question of the Week “If you could have tea with a fictional character, who would it be and why?”

The Wonderland World of Alice!
Monday was the day when Year 5 and Year 6 brought the
performance of ‘Alice In Wonderland’ to life on the magical
stage of the Quay Theatre. Thanks for all the outstanding
costumes that were put together by
willing parents; the brilliant make up that was created by
contributing mums; the effort put into learning the difficult
lines (especially Holly, who played Alice) and the helpful sup-
port given by teachers and parents which all helped bring the
play alive. Nervous, excited, worried, after countless hours
of nonstop practice, the moment had come for us to perform on stage. Although nervous, a few stars were
born and everyone gave their all into the performance. Working on the play was great fun and everyone in-
volved gave up a lot of time to make it as good as it was, as a result, we created a wonderful and entertain-
ing play, that many enjoyed to their hearts content, including me! By Charlotte Y6
Hearts pounding as if ready to spring out of our chests, Year 5 and 6 were readied for the yearly
performance; this year being ‘Alice the Musical’ based on the outstanding film ‘Alice in Wonderland’ film.
The light flickered on and we were ready, everyone in the crowd sat patiently just waiting for the humour
to explode out. We started and Wonderland started to bloom. Colour, jokes and super-soakers sprayed the
crowd and the completely mad creatures that came with the show like mock turtles, a caterpillar on a chaise
longue and even angry, pepper loving duchesses. It was a heart-warming play that would change Year 5 and 6
forever! By Sam Y6
Thank you to all involved with this fabulous
production. It was superb and I know the children
will look back on it as one of the high points of their
time with us. Thank you to Ms Holtom in particular—she
deserves an Oscar!
Collective Worship
I began the Collective Worship Week on Monday with a look at
another of our Growth Mindset principles. We watched a video about
Derek Redmond and his hamstring disaster in 1992 Olympics and
talked about how we need to keep trying even if we can’t do it YET!
We shared some verses from the Bible too.
On Wednesday, Mrs Bennie talked about the phrase which begins ‘For
Thine is the Kingdom…’ from The Lord’s Prayer. She told a story
about a painting that had been sold for a lot of money but was found
to be a fake and then explained that this phrase was to underline
that Christians believe God is very definitely genuine and real for
them on a daily basis.
We went to St Mary’s Church for our assembly on Thursday. Rev.
Steve talked about Wimbledon highlighting the fact that tennis
players get two chances to serve so if the first one goes wrong they
get a second chance. He then went on to talk about how God is willing
to give people lots of chances to try again when they ask him to help
them.

Sport’s Day
We are looking forward to our
Sport’s Day on Tuesday (9th July)
but would like your help with a
couple of health and safety issues.
Firstly, it looks like the weather is
going to be a mixture of
sunshine and cloud and about 19
degrees. Obviously, the children will
need hats, water bottles and sun
cream however we may also need to
provide a few gazebos for shade if
it looks like it is going to be hotter
and sunnier that this. If you have
got a gazebo you may be able to
bring down at 8.50 am to put up on
the field please could you let us
know by emailing or ringing then we
can send you a message on
Monday night if we do think they will
be needed.
Secondly, for safeguarding
purposes it is important that you as
spectators stay on the opposite side
of the track from your children
during the whole event so that we
can be sure they are in the right
place and therefore safe.
Thank you!
