Membership Fees: Change of membership fees for 2017. As of AGM February, it was voted to

change membership fees to Family membership $20.00 and single membership $20.00 per annum.

Sales Table: A reminder that all your orchid needs can be obtained through the Club on meeting

mornings. If you need to pre-order any orchid bark or Perlite, please contact Norm Martin. All other supplies such as pots, fertilisers, orchid clips, hanging pots, etc will be available on meeting morning.

Morning tea Schedule for monthly meetings A schedule is being organised to share the morning tea duties. Please see Derise if you are able to assist with setting up morning tea, providing light morning tea and cleaning up afterwards. Please phone Derease 0412884937. We only need a couple of volunteers each month and a couple of packets of Biscuits would be fine.

Margaret River Orchid Society Show was held on 9th & 10th Sept, 2017 at Watershed Winery

Margaret River. The theme of the Show was ‘Orchid Farm’.

Geoff Barrett, Managing Director of Watershed Wines in Margaret River opened the Show on Saturday morning. This was followed by a very brisk sales morning. Rick Winch provided a very comprehensive potting demonstration on both mornings with lots of questions coming from a very interested audience. My sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the Bunbury Orchid Society's Spring Show held over this weekend. Without the magnificent assistance from all the Members who helped out over the weekend and the support of our Vendors, and Members who entered Orchids into all the Classes it would have been ordinary.

Congratulations to all the Members who had plants on the Champions Table, and to those who were placed or won their Class. We look forward to a fantastic 2018 Orchid season, when the Spring Show will be held on the 1st weekend in

September 2018.

September Monthly Meeting 3rd September2017

September meeting of the Bunbury Orchid Society was held in the Australind Hall commencing 10.15am

Warren Cruickshank opened the meeting in the absence of President Rick Winch and Vice President Wally Heath.

Welcoming members and recognizing life members in attendance.

Attendance book was signed and apologies noted.

Visitor Dene Hardy was welcomed.

Minutes of the July meeting were issued with the Orchid Talk.

General Business:-

WAROO Judges award fees for city clubs to be the same as country clubs. A letter has been written but no reply

as yet.

Asked if we would support WAROO if they decide to come to the country for a meeting in January Which we said

we would as we don’t have a delegate for WAROO. And would we support the World Conference if it came to

Perth.

Some members spoke about trouble getting plants to WA with Quarantine laws. John Palmer advised about this

and Margaret Nelson will try to get more information.

Len Munnings spoke about Orchid Spectacular and our entry. Also thanks to those members who helped Brian

Harwood load the trailer and again unload on Sunday night. Thanks to all who gave orchids for our display and

helped with setting up and again dismantling on Sunday.

One thousand flyers for the Spring show have been donated by A & L Printers and the road signs have been put

out.

Alan Blee has done the advertising for the Spring Show.

Brian Mead, Steve Nelson and Phil Bunny are on duty to do the sausage sizzle for the two day Spring Show.

Bill Hardy has offered to tow the trailer back to the shed after the Spring show but will need help once there.

Roster for the door and kitchen has been draw up with help needed .

Anne and Dick Light donated $50.00 towards the catering for the Spring show.

Set up for the Spring Show at the Italian Club is 12pm on Friday the 15th. With entries 3pm to 6pm and Judging at

6pm.

Trophies and sashes for the Winter show were presented to all winners.

Mike Baker gave a plant description and spoke about the plants that were presented for the meeting.

Bill Dear spoke about the seedling plants.
