Our OCC volunteers are awesome! We had 14 ladies last time we met to make more beautiful dresses and totes and still they are sewing! In August we will be putting together sewing kits and fishing kits. So please check your cabinets for thread, needles, pins, thimbles, lace for our older girls (and this also helps out their moms). I’ll never forget Pete Helton’s story of the tribe that had 1 (ONE!) needle and it had to be shared with the whole community and checked out like a library book.

Heavens, something we totally take for granted. So let’s send lots of needles! And our little fellas would love to go fishing…so that’s hooks, line, sinkers and bobbers in our kits. We need to make more yarn dolls (and we have plenty of yarn, so please ask us for it and you can make them at home while you are watching TV). We only have 54 made and we need approximately 400 more. Our church goal is 1631 shoeboxes this year and this is going to take all of us doing several boxes to reach this goal! Please continue to pray for our volunteers and for Samaritan’s Purse as they are still delivering the 11.2 million shoeboxes collected last season and for the 12 million praying for this season. Altogether there have

been 135 million shoeboxes collected since 1993! As you know, the more boxes we collect, the more children will get to hear about the love of Jesus for each and every one of them through a 12 week Bible study called, “The Greatest Journey” that is given to each child in their language. When that booklet goes home their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles will also get to see and read about this same loving Jesus! Oh my, just because of a (your) shoeboxes! Our work dates are on Mondays, August 8th and 22nd from 10-2 for anyone that wants to join us…women and men, for making sewing and fishing kits! I know there are many new members that we would love to get involved with us. Please call Joyce or me so we can get you on our OCC team!

Coed Class for Boomers Starting TODAY @ 8:45 a.m. Room 252 (first hall outside Sanctuary, last door on left) This class will be taught by Sam Galloway.

Raising Boys & Girls As a parent you want purpose, you want to connect, to feel cho-sen, to look like you have some semblance of an idea of what you’re doing. But more often than not, you don’t. You’re raising your child when you’re not entirely sure you’re finished being raised yourself. Your fear of what you’re not as a parent can often prevent you from being who you can be. This study, which will be led by Dana Griggs, is designed to help you with that. Member book is $10.

Angela Thomas’ Brave (Room 177) Lisa Hammons and Bedelia Russell will facilitate this seven week study which covers these common struggles: 1) I am worn out; 2) I am suffering with a thorn; 3) I am undisci-plined; 4) I am trembling inside; 5) I am invisible; 6) I am bro-ken. Books are $13.

Truth Matters (Room 175) This seven-session study led by Mike Stringer will help equip men to defend their faith in a world that continues to challenge the existence of God and the validity of His Word. Topics to be covered are: 1) A Reasonable Faith. 2) Is God There? Does God Care? 3) Let’s Make a Bible. 4) Contradictions, Contradic-tions. 5) I’ll Need an Original. 6) And the Winner Is… 7) A Likely Story.

Re-Finance (Room 145) Tracy Russell will lead this study of the wisdom in Proverbs and Ecclesiastes that calls us to action for spiritual growth in the area of finances and giving. These Old Testament books give great direction for modern money management. Cost is $7 per member book.

God’s Grand Design - You Bonny Warren will lead this study for women which will explore His will for your good physical wellness through prayer, study of scripture, exercise and nutrition. In August explore God’s plan for your health. Class schedule will expand in September to al-low for physical fitness classes.

Seamless (Room 177) This seven session study helps replace insecurity that holds women back with clarity and helps them move forward with con-fidence in their understanding of scripture. This study will begin on Wednesday, August 10 at 6:30 p.m.
