Principles and Guidelines Jacqueline Mackaway

Jacqueline Mackaway is currently a PhD candidate at Macquarie University. Her area of interest is inclusive practice in work integrated learning, particularly from an employer perspective. Jacqueline has previously worked as a Program Research and Development Officer in Macquarie University’s Learning and Teaching Centre, working largely on research based projects related to the university’s Professional and Community Engagement (PACE) initiative. In a prior life Jacqueline worked in Human Resource Management for 15 years, with roles in professional development and change management across a range of sectors in the Asia Pacific region.

Guest Speaker: Leoni Russell

Leoni is a Senior Educational Advisor within the Office of the Dean Learning and Teaching at RMIT. Her multi-sector experience includes teaching, policy and curriculum development, managing teaching and learning projects and resource development. She provides academic educational support to build staff capability across a range of educational strategies including work integrated learning (WIL). In her previous role at Victoria University, she played a leadership role in the university-wide strategic initiative to make WIL a key feature of all courses, developed and implemented policy and supporting procedures to assist staff and students in their WIL initiatives. Leoni was a lead team member on the OLT project “Assessing the impact of WIL on student work-readiness” and a member of the ‘WIL Leadership’ project.

Guest Speaker: Judith Smith

Judith Smith is Associate Director, Academic – Real World Learning at Queensland University of Technology. In this role she is responsible for providing university-wide leadership to Real World Learning and Work Integrated Learning in strategy, policy, curriculum and pedagogy. She is currently leading a number of cross-institutional initiatives including the Community Engaged Learning Lab, which is enabling and supporting interdisciplinary initiatives in the curriculum across QUT faculties. Previous to this role she was the academic coordinator for the Transition to Professional Environments Program in the Creative Industries Faculty. She has been a chief investigator on an ARC Discovery project researching electronic portfolio assessment in the arts and has received a Carrick Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning for active and authentic learning
