If they were to do so, it would mark just the 10th time in franchise history they’ve gone five games in a row and the first time since 2003. The streak of four consecutive games is the most to start a season in franchise history. The Bills have established a new franchise record by going 15 consecutive quarters without a turnover. Bills 21, Jets 12Sunday, September 10, 2017 - New Era Field

The Buffalo Bills began their 2017 season with a 21-12 victory over the New York Jets on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at New Era Field. With the win, head coach Sean McDermott became only the second head coach in Bills’ history to win his irst weekend kickoff game. QB Tyrod Taylor began his third season with the Bills by rack-ing up 224 passing yards, two touchdowns and only one interception. In front of a home crowd of 68,751, the Buffalo offense ended its irst drive of the game with an interception but did not surrender the ball by interception or fumble to the Jets again for the rest of the game. The irst quarter proved to be a defensive battle as neither team was able to ind the end zone. On Buffalo’s third drive of the game, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison utilized several of his offensive weapons as RB LeSean McCoy, WR Jordan Matthews, FB Mike Tolbert, FB Pat DiMarco and TE Charles Clay all had touches throughout the march down the ield. The drive ended in Taylor inding Clay in the end zone and putting the irst points of the season on the board for a 7-0 lead over the Jets. Taylor led the march down the ield early in the third quarter, thanks in part to a 47-yard grab by Matthews. With only a yard left on the ield, Taylor made a short completion to WR Andre Holmes to take a 14-6 lead. The Bills cemented the victory at the beginning of the fourth quarter as McCoy broke through the middle to pick up 27-yards, TE Nick O’Leary hauled in a 22-yard and Tolbert punched a one-yard carry into the endzone for a 21-12 lead. The Jets’ attempts to bridge the deicit were proven futile as S Jordan Poyer and S Micah Hyde both came down with interceptions late in the fourth quarter. Poyer’s interception made him the irst Bill since Sam Adams in 2003 to tally an interception and a sack in his Bills’ debut.

Notes: LeSean McCoy led the team in offense with 159 all-pur-pose yards. With his performance against the Jets, he eclipsed 12,000 career scrimmage yards, bringing his career total to 12,043 yards. He is the sixth active player to reach this mark... Mike Tolbert ran for a one-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. With his rush, the Bills recorded a rushing touchdown in their 13th consecutive game – tying a team record (1980) and extending the longest active streak in the NFL.

Bills 23, Falcons 17Sunday, october 1, 2017 - Mercedes-benz stadium

The Bills put forth a whale of an effort against the defend-ing NFC champions, Atlanta Falcons. The defense kept it a low-scoring game and forced three turnovers. The of-fense mixed the run and pass well and Stephen Hauschka provided a pair of long distance ield goals for the second straight week. It all it together for an improbable 23-17 road victory over Atlanta.

Winning the turnover battle by a margin of 3-0 proved crucial in the win as Buffalo scored 13 points off turnovers in the six-point win. Down 10-7 at the half Buffalo got a defensive touchdown when Tre’Davious White returned a Matt Ryan fumble 52 yards for a touchdown.

The Bills outscored the Falcons 16-7 in the second half as the defense time and again turned Atlanta’s high-powered offense away, including a 4th-and-1 play at the Bills nine-yard line with under a minute remaining.
