He was accompanied by his wife and children and a group from Leona Method- ist Church of Heidelberg. That group favored us with a melodious song. Rev. James A. Hen- derson and I were thankful to find Deacon Eddie B. Richey, Daisy Blakley and Thomas Earl Howard doing well on Tuesday. Please come and worship and praise God with us on Sunday, Jan. 26 during our 11 a.m. service as we cele- brate our Annual Family and Friends Day. We say to all the bereaved: “Although it’s difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. God never promised a life without pain, laughter without tears nor sun without rain. But He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and the light for the way. And for all who believe in His heaven above, He rewards their faith in His everlasting love.” The words of sympathy I have to offer are nothing compared to the love and healing I wish upon you. It is with a heart full of sympathy and love that we extend a comforting embrace. When you feel sor- row in these sad times, look to your heart for the happy memories. We pray that God folds you in His loving arms so that you may find the abil- ity to heal. Death often leaves us ask- ing why, but nothing can heal like happy memories. The memories we have are our stepping stones toward heal- ing. Our heartfelt sympa- thies to each of you. We are continuing in prayer for Thomas Earl Howard (who is home recu- perating after being hospi- talized), Chris Thompson, Daisy Blakely, Rev. Cecil Jackson, Dianne Whitfield- Strawbridge, Danielle Ford, our daughter Cindy Cooper, Bettie Ruth Watkins, Sadie Pearl Busby, Mary Howell- Dozier, Arrie Lee Howard, Mattie Howard (who is recuperating at home after eye surgery), Ruther Morgan (who I found in good spir- its on Thursday), Lynette Hayes, Deacon Joe Howard, Susie M. Jordan, Mary Helen Pough, Lee Andrew Everett, Deacon and Mrs. Eddie B. Richey, Raymond Everett, the sick, the lonely, the elderly, the homebound and for all bereaved families. We are in much prayer for our leaders — local, national and spiritual — for our nation and for everyone, everywhere. We are in prayer for our children, all teachers, admin- istrators and everyone affili- ated with the school system. We often feel helpless when somebody we love is hurting. How can we be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need of comfort and care? Whether it’s encouraging a jobless friend, lifting the spirits of the depressed or hosting a start-over shower for a divorced mother, there is always the need for showing compassion to someone that needs to feel love. Stay prayerful and study God’s Word daily. Ask God to open your understanding of His Word. Meditate on it daily and hide it in your heart. Cultivate a love for it and talk about it to your children when you get up and before going to bed. Share it with others. To all the hurting, lonely, depressed, distressed and everyone that is in need, always remember that we love you dearly but God loves you more. The joy of the Lord is my strength.
