Internal Cable Checking – interconnection cable

• The tables of the interconnection cables are intracabinet cables of the Flexi BSCand most of the intercabinet cables of the BSC3i.

• Each cable has its individual number. This number and the address of both endsof the cable are given.

• Both the name of the functional unit to which the end of the cable is connected,and its co-ordinate are given in a table. The columns in the tables are used asfollows:

Internal Cable Checking – interconnection cable

Equipping No.  shows the individual number of the cable. Both ends of the cable are marked with a

label with this number on it.

Cabinet   shows the name of the cabinet where the cable is connected.

FU or Panel  shows the name of the functional unit or panel where the cable is connected

Position or  Connector   shows the co-ordinate of the connector where the cable is connected.

Type shows the type number of the cable. The type of the cable and connectors are coded in the

first three or four letters and the length of the cable is shown in the following three numbers. The

length is given in centimeters if there is a letter C after the three numbers, and in decimeters if there is

no letter after the three number

Use  shows the use of the cable.

Note  shows the alternative configurations, if any.

Pre-requisites for BCSU expansion

• Latest Fallback availability in BSC. Check for any critical alarmin BSC. 

• Availability of following Hardware: 1 CP816, 1 PSC6, 1 or 2PCU, 2 AS7_C or 1 AS7D at site. 

• Availability of tools incase dummy SHIM plates have to beremoved. 

• Jumper settings of the cards should be checked. Backplanepins should be checked with a torch.

BCSU expansion Procedure

• Insert Cards in respective tracks in BCSU cartridge. Jumper settings

should be as per documentation.

• Verify all LK’s( should have correct C-Num and capacity and feature

description as ordered)

• Create hardware for the BCSU. ( Refer hardware creation doc)

• FTP the Licence files and install them, verify licence state.

• Change state of newly created BCSU to TE-EX and Diagnose it with both

MCMU’s. 

•  Change state of newly created BCSU to SP-EX. 

Checks :

• Give switchover to newly added BCSU with any existing BCSU which

has GB link created and SS7 link created, Check the state of Gb link andsignaling link.

• Verify if newly added BCSU is working fine in WO-EX.

Issues & Troubleshooting

Issue: BCSU failing diagnosis in PCUT or AS7

T/S steps to be taken :

• First diagnose BCSU with both MCMU’s to check if issue remains same. 

• Next if diagnosis failing with both MCMU’s then verify jumper settings of failed

plug-in unit.

• If jumper setting found ok replace failed plug-in unit & check.

• If even after replacement of failed plug-in unit if issue persists kindly get backplanecabling verified of that respective plug-in unit. Also check for any pin bends in backplane

of cartridge.

• Suspected backplane cabling can be interchanged / swapped with non-used cable

of same cable type.

• Even after plug-in unit & backplane cable replacement if issue persists lastly

cartridge can be suspected. But before declaring cartridge faulty above mentionedchecks should have been performed thoroughly.
