How to keep track of your DofE activitiesTo achieve an Award, you need to prove what activities you’ve been doing, how you’ve progressed and how you’ve met the goals you set for each section. There are two ways of keeping track of everything you’re doing for your DofE.

eDofEThe most fun, exciting way is eDofE – our online system that means you can prove what you’ve done in loads of different ways – using photos, videos, blogs and more. If you are using eDofE you can also use this booklet to make notes when you’re doing an activity to remind you of what you want to put on eDofE.

If you’re doing an activity with an Assessor who’s not on eDofE, they can approve your activity on the following pages. You can then scan or take a picture of them and upload into eDofE for your Leader’s approval. See pages 4-5 for more info.

Keeping Track bookletIf you’re not using eDofE, you can use this Keeping Track booklet (pages 6-13) to write down your achievements and get them approved by your Assessor and Leader.

Introducing eDofEeDofE is simple to use. So what do you need to do?

1: Login Once you’ve decided to do your DofE and paid your participation fee, your Leader will set you up on the system. You’ll get an email with your username & password (don’t share it!). Then you can login via our website www.DofE.org at any time. The first time only you login you’ll need to change your password and give us a few more details about yourself.

2: Choose your programme After chatting to your Leader about your choices, you can put into eDofE what you plan to do for each section, and for how long. You’ll also be asked to complete a programme planner – so your Leader can see exactly how you are going to achieve each section.

3: Get your Leader’s approval Once you’ve completed your initial section info, your Leader will be notified so they can tell you what you plan to do is OK. Once they’ve done this it’s time to get going and do your activity!

4: Record your evidence When you’ve done any activity you can record what you’ve done – write a note or a blog, upload a photo or video or a photo/scan of an Assessor’s notes. You can put on as much evidence as you like, as often as you like – either as you’re doing it or at the end.

5: Get sign-off Once you’ve done your activity for the time you agreed and have uploaded all your evidence, you can submit it to your Leader to sign off. And when you’ve done all four sections, you can get sign off for your Bronze level. Your Leader/Co-ordinator will send this to your Operating Authority (OA) for final approval.

6: Print your evidence of achievement You can print details of what you did for your DofE to keep forever!

Congratulations!

Once you’ve completed your programme, make sure you,your Assessors and your Leader have made comments and approved each section on your eDofE pages or in this Keeping Track booklet.

In eDofE, your details will automatically be passed to your Operating Authority (OA) to check everything’s correct. If you’re only using this Keeping Track booklet, your Leader/Co-ordinator will send it to your OA to check.

All being well you will be told that you’ve achieved your Bronze Award – congratulations!

You’ll then receive your certificate and badge.

Ask your Leader where and when your Award presentation ceremony will take place – it could be at school, in your group or at a larger local presentation.

What’s next?

So now you’ve achieved your Bronze Award, what’s the next challenge?

Well, it’s up to you – if you’re 15 or older you can do your Silver DofE, and then go on to Gold, or, if you’re at least 16 you can go for Gold straight away (though it will take longer if you don’t do Silver).

For Silver, you will need to do activities in the same four sections, but for longer than at Bronze. You can choose to get better at the things you’ve done for Bronze or do something completely new – it’s up to you!

What are you waiting for? Ask your DofE Leader/Co-ordinator about your options and details of when your local Silver/Gold group meets. Don’t forget, if you’re moving schools/area at any time, or your current centre doesn’t offer other levels, it doesn’t need to mean the end of your DofE adventure… find a new local contact at www.DofE.org/contacts and they can help you find a new group.
