Colombia’s history is associated with an intense and fervent religious vocation manifested in its entire splendor during Easter or Holy Week for Catholics; a celebration that dates back to colonial times. This celebration brings together a large number of people in different cities and towns who participate in the activities planned by the Church and other institutions.

FROM HERE, IMPORTANT ARCHITECTURAL MONUMENTS, TEMPLES, ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL EXPRESSIONS OF FAITH HAVE RISEN OVER TIME AND HAVE BECOME THE ICONS OF RELIGIOUS TOURISM AND LOCAL FESTIVALS OR RITUALS THAT HAVE ATTRACTED DOMESTIC AND FOREIGN TOURISTS ALIKE.

BUGAIt is the most representative religious tourism city in Colombia because it is home to the Basilica of the Lord of Miracles. This sanctuary was granted the title of Basilica in 1937 by Pope Pius XI because of the numerous miracles experienced here and the large number of pilgrims who visited it. Also, here lies the statue of the Holy Redeemer.

COLOMBIA HAS UNRIVALED DESTINATIONS AND ATRACTIONS SUCH AS WHALE WATCHING AT MALAGA BAY, NUQUI, SOLANO BAY, AND THE NATIONAL PARKS OF GORGONA AND UTRIA WITH BEAUTIFUL BEACHES THAT ARE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE PACIFIC SHORE.

Even some whales remain until the first days of December. The arrival of the humpback whales is gradual and they usually do not stay in the same place.

During the season, about 3,000 of these mammals swim along the coast of Malaga bay, the Gorgona National Natural Park and the gulfs of Tribuga and Cupica, where they remain between four to five months.

The water quality, the low presence of boats and tranquility in the area are some of the reasons the southeastern Pacific is a breeding ground for humpback whales.

In this region the smoothest and best coffee in the world is grown and harvested. For this reason it has become a coveted international destination for rural tourism: the coffee culture of the region is a world-renowned successful agribusiness industry, where Juan Valdez has become an emblematic figure.

This region consists of the departments of Risaralda, Caldas, Quindio, and Norte del Valle and has been declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO for its beautiful coffee landscapes, biodiversity, and cultural richness.

COFFEE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE

THE COFFEE CULTURAL LANDSCAPE STANDS OUT BECAUSE ITS GRAIN IS HARVESTED BY HAND AND HANDPICKED IN FAMILY ESTATES. IN THIS REGION EVERYTHING IS STILL DONE BY HAND.

CALDAS, QUINDIO, RISARALDA AND NORTE DEL VALLE offer accommodation in coffee farms where the landscape, the tranquility, the regional cuisine and the warmth of its people are its protagonists.

Visitors can experience numerous hikes among the green coffee plantations, horseback riding through waterfalls, listen to birds chirping on the background, fish peacefully nearby, go mountain biking, or visit neighboring towns. The National Coffee Park and Panaca Park promote local culture values and it is a fun experience for all ages.

There is a wide range of accommodation options at a great value. Haciendas and beautiful traditional villas embody the great coffee culture in La Virginia, located in Risaralda. They retain their original architecture including furnishings and traditional interior decor.

There are haciendas with guesthouses that can be the ideal option for a family stay where visitors will virtually blend with nature. Also in Marsella, there are farmsteads where visitors can learn all about the coffee process.

This island, with temperatures exceeding 80° degrees Fahrenheit, is a perfect destination for diving enthusiasts and other visitors who like to perform activities such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, and beach sports.

The charm of its inhabitants is one of the main features compared to other destinations, where you will hear the characteristic sounds of Caribbean music: reggae, calypso, and socca.

The island is located very close to Johnny Key and the Aquarium, two islands where unique experiences can be enjoyed just 5 minutes away by boat. It is a destination for tourists who are expecting to fall in love with the colors of the sea, traditional food, reggae, and singular regional cocktails. The abundant wealth of natural resources found in Colombia has turned it into an exclusive platform and a supplier of unique ingredients of health and wellness. Thanks to its extensive volcanic system, Colombia has more than 300 telluric thermal and alkaline springs ideal for hydrotherapy, relaxation, and rest performed in places surrounded by green landscapes, waterfalls, and villages that maintain their traditions, rituals, and culture.

One of its main advantages is the variety of products and the ability the country has to produce fruit, flowers, and plants with unique medicinal properties mostly driven by its privileged year round geographical location close to the equator. These elements are used as ingredients for health and beauty treatments in spas located in cities like Bogota, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, and the departments that make up the Coffee Cultural Landscape.
