About NIT PATNA
National Institute of Technology Patna is the 18th National Institute of Technology created
by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India after rechristening the erstwhile Bihar Col-
lege of Engineering Patna on 28. 01. 2004. NIT Patna is situated on the South bank of the
River Ganges behind Gandhi Ghat, one of the most important and sacred places of Patna.
The Institute campus is about 8 km from the Patna Junction railway station and 15 km
from the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport, Patna. The entrance to the Institute is
from Ashok Rajpath and it is about 3 km from the famous Gandhi Maidan. The Institute is
partly residential in nature and it provides residential facilities to its students as well as
teachers as per availability. Its 43 acre campus has a picturesque river view with eye
catching historic buildings presenting a spectacle of architectural and natural scene.

The national conference on Recent Developments in Numerical
Techniques and its Applications (RDNTA-2016) will be organized
at NIT Patna. The aim of the conference is to provide a platform to
the researchers from different part of the country to discuss the
recent developments in numerical and analytical tools to solve
governing equations of the real world problems. There will be
several guest lectures in the area of Applied Mathematics by re-
nowned experts from various higher educational institutes. Along
with a number of research work presentation by research schol-
ars/ faculty members from reputed Institutes will enlighten the
recent developments of the application oriented mathematical
tools.
About the Department of Mathematics:
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1924 and de-
partment offer several courses that support other engineering
departments. Recently, two new programs, Integrated M. Sc. in
Mathematics and M. Tech in Computational Mathematics are start-
ed and running successfully from the academic year 2015-2016.
Current faculty strength of the department is eight and they are
experienced in teaching and research in several branches of Math-
ematics. Department of Mathematics is one of the backbone of the
Institution as it is an essential department for engineering courses
up to Ph.D level.
