Briscoe Primary School & Nursery www.hearts-briscoe.uk Friday 29 th November 2019 Attendance 96% Can we do even better next week? Dear Parents and Carers, We have been lucky enough to drop into lots of lessons this week to spend time with the children, discussing their learning and the progress they are making. The children amazed us with how excited they were about the lessons they have had this term and are getting very good at explaining the knowledge they have learned from them. Well done everyone! While the rest of us have been complaining about the heavy rain this week, our youngest children have been enjoying splashing in the puddles that it has created. The look of wonder and excitement on their faces was lovely! Take a look at the picture below. Christmas has come a little early this year in Outdoor Learning and the children have been creating Christmas decorations from natural objects they have found in the forest area. Some of them were really impressive in their design and we are looking forward to displaying them on our Christmas tree when it goes up. We also had the excitement of the pantomime come to Briscoe this afternoon, when the children were treated to a fantastic performance of Peter Pan. The children had a fabulous time and couldn’t stop talking about how much they enjoyed it. Keep your eyes open in next week’s newsletter for some pictures of the panto. Have a great weekend. Mrs Coggin and Mrs Chudleigh Flu Immunisations We have had the following message from the flu immunisations team which they’ve asked to be passed on to our parents:- We would be very grateful if you could ensure that consent for your child’s flu immunisation is submitted by 4.00 pm on the day before their vaccination is due. If this isn’t possible, please contact your immunisation team on 01702 220181 or alternatively complete a paper consent from the school office. Well done to Ellie Simmonds - Blue team who had the most Dojo points with 457. You have 10 minutes extra play to look forward to next week.

better next week?

The children amazed us with how excited they were about the lessons they have had this term and are getting very good at explaining the knowledge they have learned from them. Well done everyone! Lateness Far too many children are arriving at

school late each morning!

Why is punctuality important?

Your child will be calm and ready to begin learning.

They will not miss registration and time to practice basic skills.

They will not miss the start of the lesson where valuable learning occurs.

They will not miss their break time to catch up on missed work.

EVERY MINUTE COUNTS!

5 minutes late a day means 3 lost days of learning a year

10 minutes late a day means 6.5 lost days

15 minutes late a day means 10 lost days

20 minutes late a day means 13 lost days

30 minutes late a day means 19 lost days

If a child arrives after the register has been taken, they are marked as an unauthorised

absence - this affects their attendance record!

Outstanding Monies

With Christmas just a few weeks away now we

realise that it’s an expensive time of year.

However, we are still awaiting payment from

several families for school trips, swimming

lessons and dinner money.

Please pay what you owe promptly online

through SchoolMoney.

If you have a problem with this, please let one

of our office staff know - they will be happy to

help.
