My name is Brian Shillingburg, and I am thrilled to be your Principal at James Bowie Middle School! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share my commitment to you for this school year. I graduated with a B.S. in Education at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas. I have been married to my beautiful bride, Amy, for almost 14 years, and our 9-year- old son is our pride and joy. For the last 15 years I have had the opportunity to work in an AB unit, a youth RTC, serve as a worship/youth pastor, teach grades Kinder and fourth, and serve as an elementary instructional coach. I graduated in 2010 with an M. Ed. in School Administration at Sam Houston State and have spent the last four years in Spring Branch ISD as an assistant principal at Landrum Middle School. My first and foremost desire is to create a thriving campus culture where every child succeeds. Through powerful working relationships we will bring out the best in our teachers and continue to develop an atmosphere where we love to come and serve. Collectively, Bowie will pursue innovation, encourage creativity, and equip teachers with the tools they need to succeed through quality feedback. I will also encourage transparency with our parent community so we can have thoughtful conversations about making Bowie a thriving school community that constantly seeks new ways to challenge our students. We have the opportunity to impact our students at such a crucial moment in their lives. For me, the middle school years were a defining point in my life where I chose the path of education.
