Flood prone communities are beginning to establishelevation design guidelines, as a user’s manual onhow to raise buildings above base flood elevation, or theelevation to which floodwater is anticipated to rise duringa 100-year storm event.

The Breezy Point Home Elevation Studyemployed a novel approach on design guidelines for aunique coastal community, by focusing on urbanism asmuch as on architecture.

Architectural Standards were modeled on the potentialurban context of elevated homes, visualizing a set ofStudy Options to inform homeowners on how theirchoice of architectural standards will affect theirneighborhood character, resulting in the NeighborhoodDesign Guidelines.
