Swivel Chair and Gun Rest
Problem Statement: Tree stands used for hunting often have a stationary bar that is part of the frame for the stand. This bar only offers mediocre assistance to the hunter and only when he is aiming straight ahead.
Proposed Resolution: A Gun Rest that would swivel from side to side will increase the accuracy range of the gun. By attaching a swivel chair a hunter could also quietly aim at an object.
Scope
An aluminum arm, attached by a bearing to the bottom of a deer stand. The arm must be strong, lightweight, adjustable, camouflaged, glare-free, and absolutely quiet. In addition, a mechanism will be devised to stop the arm and hold it stable for a sound shot.
The swivel seat will aid the hunter in positioning his/her body in a comfortable and stable shooting position. The seat must also be completely quiet and glare-free.
Market
In Georgia alone, for the 2003-2004 Deer Hunting Season, there were 289,703 modern firearm hunters, and 69,078 muzzleloader hunters.
Average deer per hunter: 1.6 This displays the possibility of a huge demand for shooting stability
devices and stands, not only in Georgia, but wherever game is hunted.

Task Assignments Allan: Design seat swivel mechanism. Ensure that the
seat betters the hunter’s range of motion, operates silently, and is durable.
Bill: Design group website, take photos and videos, assist in part designs.
Cleve: Design bearing system for arm rotation. Calculate loading, size, and suitable type of bearing. Create bearing-to-stand attachment.
Craig: Design arm and gun rest. Ensure that the arm is lightweight, durable, quiet, adjustable, and capable of clearing the stand at all points. Ensure rest is quiet and stable.
Josh: Design stopper system. Ensure that the system stops the arm quietly and securely and releases easily.
Task Assignments (team)
Stable stand Arm rotates smoothly and attaches to bearing
and stand securely Gun rest is stable and adjustable on arm Stopper system does not hinder arm rotation
until its use is required Seat is safe and secure on stand All work and subsequent updates are posted
