Our school motto ‘success through effort & determination’

underpins all that we do. We treat each child as an individual

and provide personalised support, carefully tailored to their

needs. It comes as no surprise that students of all abilities

and from all socio-cultural backgrounds excel here at

Brampton Manor Academy. Our staff are well qualified and

work in strong partnership with our parents to provide

consistently good support for the students. Our mission is

simple : to ensure that all our children succeed to the best of

their ability.

Due to our success Brampton Manor Academy is already the

most oversubscribed school in Newham and continues to go

from strength to strength. Long may that continue.

Dr D. Olukoshi

As Principal of Brampton Manor Academy, I am delighted to

present to you our 2014 Prospectus and to share with you

some information about our school. We are a dynamic and

successful 11-18 school serving the Newham community. We

have students of all abilities and from a wide variety of

backgrounds, all of whom contribute to the richness and

diversity of our school population.

We are a very successful school because we focus very

strongly on what really matters:— the quality of teaching and

learning. As a result, our students make outstanding progress.

In 2012, Ofsted concluded that our overall effectiveness is

outstanding because:

Student achievement is outstanding

Quality of teaching is outstanding

Student behaviour is outstanding

Quality of leadership is outstanding

Students of all ages and abilities make outstanding progress

because of the rich curriculum we offer, along with the

excellent care, guidance and support we provide. Our

curriculum consists of a rich blend of academic and vocational

qualifications, all supported by fantastic learning resources

including a state-of-the-art theatre, TV and recording studios,

outstanding sports and fitness facilities, as well as modern,

At Brampton Manor Academy we are keen to develop the

whole individual and have a set of strategies to support both

the academic and the social-emotional development of our

students. We want the school to be a safe and happy place for

all our students.

At Brampton Manor Academy, we are developing students who

are:

Collaborative

Confident

Creative

Empathetic

Expressive

Resilient

Independent

Pastoral system

At the heart of our pastoral system is your child's Form Tutor.

Each Form Tutor takes pride in establishing strong

relationships with their students and their families. The Form

Tutor is the first and key point of contact with home.

Form Tutors are led and supported by Progress Managers who

monitor the academic and personal progress of each child in

their year group. We also have Year Supervisors, attached to

year groups. They are not teachers and work specifically with

the students to remove any barriers to learning.

In addition, the Principal and the Senior Leadership Team

provide support to all year groups and play a key role in

providing guidance and ensuring high standards throughout the

school.

Behaviour

Our Ofsted report in June 2012 stated that:

“Students’ behaviour is outstanding”;

“Students are respectful and considerate”;

“The academy is an extremely harmonious community”.

We demand a high standard of behaviour from students at all

times, including when they are not in school! Our students can

feel confident to report any unpleasantness from others, in the

secure knowledge that it will be dealt with quickly, effectively and

sensitively by our well-trained staff.

Homework

All students will receive a homework timetable which will

set out clearly what they are expected to do each evening

at home. We see homework as vital to developing pupils’

independent learning skills.

All students are encouraged to make good use of our

school library, which remains open until 5pm each evening.

Clubs

We have a huge range of clubs to cater for the different interests of our students. Please encourage your child to attend at least one after school club each week.

Food provision

We have a Breakfast Club from 7.30am to 8.00am every

day. Breakfast is free to students eligible for free school

meals and is highly subsidised for other students. Food

may also be bought at both break times. We operate a

cashless catering system and you can top up your child’s

account over the internet, and by cash or cheque at the

school. Alternatively, you can send your child in with a

packed lunch.

Student Support

Students who experience difficulties in Literacy or Numeracy

or who are behind national expectations receive support

from either the SEN department or from specialist Literacy

and Numeracy Teaching Assistants.

We also offer focused support from the following specially

trained staff:

Learning Mentor

School Counsellor

Educational Welfare Officer

Special Needs Coordinator

In addition we have specially trained senior students who

provide a valuable service to other students as Learning

Coaches and Prefects.

BRAMPTON MANOR ACADEMY SIXTH FORM

BRAMPTON MANOR ACADEMY

We opened our sixth form in September 2012 with a clear mission to provide

first-class A Level teaching to prepare and enable our students to progress to the

country’s top universities, specifically Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.

Our first set of A level results (Summer 2014) is stunning:

100% A*-E grades

95% A*-E grades

71% A*-B grades

57% of the entire cohort have progressed to Russell Group Universities

We believe that this is the best result of any school sixth form in East London.

Please see the curriculum insert for a full description of the courses we offer at KS3 and KS4.

SUCCESS THROUGH EFFORT AND

DETERMINATION

At Brampton Manor Academy we

passionately believe that all students can

be successful if they show real effort and

determination to do their best. We know

that this is true and can point to the

success of thousands of our current and

former students to prove the point.

We celebrate success and applaud effort

and determination whenever our students

really go ‘ the extra mile’ to be the best

that they can be. This may be shown in

lessons, in clubs, through homework,

through helping others or through any

contribution to the rich life of our school.

In July each year we invite those students

who have shown the greatest effort and

determination, as well as their parents, to

our fantastic RED Awards ceremony. This

is one of the most prestigious events in

our school calendar and one which really

speaks volumes about the ethos of this

school. In addition, it explains why we are

in the top 1% of schools nationally for the

progress students make in their time here!

We extend a very warm welcome to every

child who genuinely wishes to make their

best effort to achieve high standards; who

genuinely commits to our high

expectations of behaviour; who

undertakes to do all of their homework to

the best of their ability; and whose parents

want to work with us to achieve success.

When all these things are in place there is

nothing we cannot achieve!
