CLUB TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP 2016
First two events of the championship have taken place… First up we had our very own Spansey wood trial in mid-March. Clerk of the course James had been flat out setting out 13 great sections to be lapped 3 times. All sections managed to avoid the Blue Bells and public footpaths so nobody/thing was run over and everyone was happy. We had a healthy entry and after some early hic ups with lack of Castrol arrows off the main road and lack of rider numbers everyone was ready to go. The wood was looking superb and offered a good ride round and Mark Banham destroyed the course and the opposition on his little Fantic twin shock. Great stuff to watch. Thanks to Adrian for use of the land and the helpers who put the event on. Next up was Kelvedon Hatch early April and another glorious spring day. A few of us rode the event which whilst somewhat worn down these days remains one of the best places in Essex to ride. Chairman made a foray into the championship after a long absence at any championship events and come away with a descent 2nd place behind Colchester’s Richard Chamley. Martin Baker took an excellent win on the white route to take a commanding lead in the ever competitive Inter B class. Unfortunately Phil took a tumble which put his bike out of action on the first lap so that was the end of his trial. At least Carol then had some company on her section which involved a flat out bog filled ditch to ride up.
