As much as it is about composition, songwriting, engineering, and arranging, music production is really about managing a process. The best producers know how to motivate and manage a creative team. The Music Producing & Recording Major teaches students the historical and technical background they need to compete in the world of production, but also develops the necessary tools and techniques needed to take ideas to the next level.
MUSIC PRODUCTION IS A PROCESS, AND IT INVOLVES
WORKING WITH A TEAM.

LACM’s Admissions Counselors work one-on-one with each student to prepare them to start their program on the right foot. For students that will require housing in the Pasadena area, LACM offers three services to help students get situated.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT BODY
Nearly half of LACM students come from around the world, bringing with them a musical and artistic diversity that creates a unique atmosphere on campus. This diversity deepens the global awareness of LACM students, widens their stylistic understanding, and challenges their creativity – emphasizing that in music, you can’t succeed if you only stay within your comfort zone.
There are two types of student visas available to non-immigrant students who wish to enter the United States for the purpose of engaging in full-time study: F-1 and M-1. LACM is approved by the United States Government to issue Certificates of Eligibility (I-20 forms) for both F-1 and M-1 visas. For more information, contact [email protected] to discuss the admissions process for international students.
HOUSING
1.Roommate Connection List (RCL) - This is a listing of new and current LACM students looking for roommates and/or apartments. If you are seeking off-campus housing and/or roommates, talk to your Admissions Counselor and get on the list! 2.Roommate Meet Ups - There are two meet ups held on campus prior to the start of the Fall and Spring quarters, so consider arriving in Pasadena a few weeks before the quarter begins.3.Housing Options List - The Housing Options List provides rent averages by area and also provides specific rental listings.
