2.2 The Department's tariffs for the 2019i20 financial year in respect of the agricultural activities

have been revised in terms of Treasury Regulation 7 .3.1 in consultation with the relevant line

directorates.

2.3 The tariffs for 2019/20 were increased with the average of four comma four percent

(4.4%- Consumer Production Index (CPI) May 2018) which entail an increase in revenue from

R 256, 749 million (2018/19) to R 268, 046 million (2019/20). The revenue for 2019/20 will be

monitored and if the projections do not realized, amendments will be made through the

adjustment processes in November 2019.

2.4 It must be noted that the revenue collected by the Department is influenced by the

national/international economic circumstances as well as imporUexport restrictions.

2.5 The revised Agriculture tariffs and structure were approved by National Treasury on

29 October 2018 (copy attached).

2.6 The tariffs related to the forestry activities is based on the Producer Price Index (PPI), the

Lumber Price Index (LPI) and the Consumer Production Index (CPI) and will be revised in

December 2018 for implementation on 1 April 2019. The 2019/20 tariff structure were also

approved by National Treasury on 29 October 2018.

3. LEGISLATIVE IMPLICATIONS

3.1 Where tariffs are prescribed by agricultural legislation, timeous notice must be given to all role

players and affected bodies by the Department by way of publication in the Government

Gazette.

3.2 In the case of the Grootfontein Agricultural Development Institute the tariffs for the College are

to be implemented from the start of the academic year and must be made available to

learners as from December 2018.

4 COMMUNICATION IMPLICATIONS

4.1 Once approved by the Minister, the Book of Tariffs will be distributed to all concerned

directorates who will attend to the necessary publication in the Government Gazette.
