Dear Lakeland Families,

You are cordially invited to come to school with your scholars on March 21 and 22 to attend their

scholar-led conferences. Invitations will be coming out soon, and we hope everyone will be able to

attend! We are hoping to reach our goal of 100% attendance. Regular classes are canceled for March

21 and 22 so that every family can visit the classroom of each scholar. This is a great chance to view

your scholar’s accomplishments and to help him/her set goals for the remaining months of school.

What can families do to prepare for these scholar-led conferences?

Mark your calendar and plan to attend the scholar-led conference with your scholar on the

scheduled day.

Contact the school office right away if you need to reschedule the conference.

Note the celebrations, questions, or concerns you want to discuss with the teacher and bring those

notes to the conference with you.

With your scholar, set goals and action plans for future achievement, and help him/her be

accountable for the follow-up.

We are halfway through the 2018-2019 school year, and we will continue to give 100% effort so that

ALL of our scholars can meet the goals they have set. We look for the same strong finish from our

scholars. Let our good work continue!

Lakeland Kindness Chain

Lakeland is starting a Kindness Chain! One of our Lakeland Bobcat Best Expectations is “Be Kind.” To

help our Lakeland community focus on being kind, we will be creating a Kindness Chain together. Each

classroom teacher will work with her/his class to spot acts of kindness done by Lakeland students.

When a kind act is spotted, the class will complete a Kindness Link. That Kindness Link will be read at

Morning Meeting, and then added to our Kindness Chain that will hang in the Commons area. Our hope

is that our Kindness Chain will get longer and longer as the year goes on! Ask your child about kindness

happening at Lakeland, and talk about how your child can help spread kindness at school too!

Lakeland Community Lending Library

The Lakeland Community Lending Library, located on the front sidewalk between the north and south

parking areas, is looking for some gently used books appropriate for grades K-5. How does the

Lending Library work? Students are allowed to take books home from the box, with the hope they will

return the books, or swap the books for books they already own. The Community Lending Library is

always ready to take donations. Simply open the door and place your books inside!

Thanks for helping us make our community library a success!
