Problem StatementBody Mass Index (BMI) & Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

Could not account for weight that comes from muscle

instead of fat

Measurement based on height is affected by age and

gender.

May place individuals who have lost muscle into the

healthy weight category

Not appropriate for pregnant women and very short

people

Does not give an accurate result of the percentage

of the body fat

Does not provide any information regarding where

body fat is stored
