Greetings FCM’s
Now that the holidays are behind
us, we can get back to a normal
way of life; boating, fishing and
getting ready for another epic
year.
February is a slow month for the
club, no regular meeting and no
club tournament. Your new
board has been working on
upcoming events and getting to
know each other and what is
expected of them. We have a
very sound board, many
returning and some new.
Our first event is Poway Lakes
on February 6th. Every year
your club donates two bikes to
the boy and girl with the best fish
story on behalf of fellow club
member Bill Schnieder and
family. We need your help for
this event, cooking and serving
the lunch for all the kids and
guests. If you have never come
out and joined in on the fun, why
not come out this year and see
what it is all about? There is
nothing more rewarding than
seeing the smiles and laughter on
the faces of the kids as they tell
you about their amazing catch of
the day! Any volunteers who
would like to join us for
breakfast at 7:30 AM at Cully’s
Restaurant in Poway, please
R.S.V.P. to Tom or Rhonda no
later than February 4th. This is a
“BYOB” (Buy Your Own
Breakfast). We start at the lake
at 9:00 AM.
Next is our banquet at Emiliano’s
Mexican Restaurant to honor
those who have recorded large
catches. Miss Ellie has put
together a great raffle, including
several silent auction items, and
Miss Janet has once again
created some beautiful baskets to
raffle off.
Our membership is a little light,
so if you haven’t renewed your
membership yet, please do so.
We will be publishing the year
book very soon and need to have
everyone’s information up to
date.
Lastly, this is the 1st month of
the bulletin by email only. If you
need to update your email
address, please contact Tim
Foote or Gabriel Segura.
Till next month,
Tom

Hello FCMS,
Well, the fishing is so-so at best
locally. If you travel south into
Mexican waters, it gets good to
very good. So what am I doing as
far as fishing, I'm not. You have
heard me say it before, and you
will hear it many times,
"preparation determines
outcome!" So, it’s time to
service your gear and get ready
for a great year ahead of us!

Here are some things that I do
that helps me say a few less bad
words. Place a video camera on
your project to help you
remember how you took it apart,
and have an exploded version of
the reel nearby is also a great
help. I will tell you, between the
springs that came out of Lord
knows where, and the Jesus clips
flying into a space never to be
found again, all these things help.
Get a large cardboard box and
cut one side out of it to make a
three sided backstop for the
flying clips. A bright white towel
on the bottom of the box will
help you find that tiny little
screw and the microscopic
washers that are on the sides of
the spool bearings. I use the best
lubricants money can buy and it
serves me well. I am a firm
believer that if I can't take it apart
and put it back together, I do not
need to own it or fish with it. So
now is the time to service all the
reels, put new line on and get
ready.
The boat will also need some
love and a lot of money to keep it
at optimum performance. If you
know me, you have heard me say
"a boat is like a really BAD
girlfriend, it wants all your time
and money and in return you will
get a tiny bit of pleasure!" I
really love it when Sue says,
"With all you spend on fishing,
we could eat at Anthony's for the
rest of our lives!" I'll never
admit it, but she does have a
point that I refuse acknowledge.
So let's get it all ready and go
fishing soon!
Looking forward to seeing you at
the awards banquet to
acknowledge our Sportsmen of
the Year, great food and prizes!!

Weigh Master
Curt Itogawa
I am back for another year as
your Weigh Master. The club is
starting a new year of activities
to keep all of our members
involved in fishing, as well as
promoting fishing to future
anglers. So with the new year, it
is time to purchase your 2016
California fishing license and let
your board members know what
you want to do this year.
Check out the 2016 Schedule of
Events, elsewhere, in this
bulletin. Remember, it is not
chiseled in stone, so it can be
changed. Some of the upcoming
events are the Lake Poway kid’s
trout fishing derby, and the club
Awards Banquet. We will need
your help cooking hot dogs and
serving the hundreds of kids and
adults that attend the Lake
Poway event on February 6th.
The club’s Awards Banquet on
February 21st is to honor all
those members that had an
amazing year of fishing and
pursuing that coveted Sports
Person of the Year award. Many
club members will receive
awards at the banquet and there
will be a great raffle, so please
make sure to attend.
The Southern California bottom
fishing season opens on March
1st. Therefore, the next club
tournament is scheduled to be a
Rockcod fishing event. If you do
not have a U.S.A. Passport and
want to fish Mexican waters on a
sportboat or private boat, you
will need one. If you don’t have
one, start the process now and
you may receive it by the opener.
So, until the next weigh-in, stay
safe and have fun.

better than 1/3! So if you have
3
not renewed your membership,
or are interested in becoming a
member, please contact me by
email or stop by the sign in table
to get signed up!
Only in numbers can we achieve
our goals and with your
membership contribution, we can
achieve our club events and
community events benefiting
youth fishing!
I would also like to invite back
our members that won free
membership at last year’s Fred
Hall Show and Day at the Docks.
Your participation and just being
there every first Thursday of
each month is greatly appreciated
and warranted. So come on down
to the Bali Hai, bring your
friends, your family, and let's
have a good time!

continue as follows: $60 for 1
year membership. $10 additional
for spouse and Children of club
members age 17 and under are
free. Club name badges are $5.

Hello FCM's,
This year has begun with major
changes… Heavy El Nino rain
storms putting a stop to our
clamming event, Yellowtail at
the islands, but not on the ½ days
like last year, and we even had
bonito and small Yellowfin
showing up by now last year.
The fishing is supposed to be a
lot better this year, hopefully it
picks up sooner than the next rain
fall!
While it’s slow, it’s time to drop
off the boat for the tune-up.
Knock on wood, but I’ve never
had to call for a tow on the water
while fishing offshore! (notice I
said … Off Shore?!!). So it’s
time to get the water pump
checked out and for any other
adjustments that need to be
made. It’s not much fun to troll
while being towed!
Another big change for me is the
new company name. No longer
WJ Bradley Mortgage Capital,
LLC (too long anyway!), now
it’s Supreme Lending. Our
company decided to take a new
focus on the mortgage industry,
wanting to focus on financing
lenders instead of borrowers. So,
we took a look at 20 companies,
narrowed it down to 10 for site
visits, found the top 3 prospects
and dug in further. In the end,
Supreme Lending showed us the
best interest rate pricing, the best
customer service (not just to our
customers, but also to the loan
officers), user friendly
technology, make-sense
underwriting and greater product
availability. I am very excited
about the change and I’m
enjoying the transitional
experience!
If you know any First Time
Home Buyers who have made
their New Year’s Resolution to
buy their first home, you’ve
found the right fisherman! I have
programs that go up to $81,900
in down payment and closing
cost assistance!! By the way,
you are considered a first time
buyer if you have not had
homeownership in the last 3
years. So, let’s say you sold a
home in February, 2013, or even
lost it to foreclosure or short sale,
then you qualify as a First Time
Home Buyer!
Give me a call or come talk to
me at the Banquet. Your
information is strictly
confidential, I have done loans
for quite a few people in the club
and not once has anybody found
out any of these borrower’s
private information.
Until next tide… Get Bent!
