Bluebell Cottage School was established in April 2016 with the founding values that early years education thrives with love, kindness, respect, sustainability, and community.

Admissions are offered in the nursery for children aged between two and five, and in the Prep School from five to eight years.

Please Note: School deposits are held for two school years attendance and refunded from the last school term admission fee, provided that written notice is received by the school in line with the parent contract on admission to the school.

There are three school terms every school year, and seasonal Holiday School weeks. School fees are inclusive of school lunch and snacks made by the School Chef for the dietary needs of every child. Entry points are at the start of each school term.

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS Occasionally admissions are offered to families visiting the UK. In these circumstances the admission would be considered international, and the application would be at the discretion of the School manager after understanding the learning needs of the child, and the at home environment. International families are advised to register with Bluebell Cottage School in the first instance selecting, International Admission, and to provide supporting information with the application explaining your family circumstances and request to the School. International admissions are considered for children aged between two and eight years.

DAY SCHOOL 8:30AM - 2:45PMChildren start day school at Bluebell Cottage between the age of three and five depending on their individual learning needs. The curriculum is differentiated for the age range of children by an experienced teaching team who provide an international school curriculum to challenge and support learning and development in boys and girls up to the age of eight.

Whilst there is an academic focus for the older children, at the heart of the curriculum is a holistic approach that focuses on understanding the individual character of every child and making links between home and school to provide a cohesive approach to early years education.

Mandarin and Spanish are taught as additional languages everyday, with an emphasis on music, art and design, and physical development with weekly swimming, and grass root sports, and daily yoga and mindfulness.

As an international School we pride ourselves on preparing children for all of life’s adventures. Resilience, understanding and critical thinking are core to the curriculum ensuring that all children are prepared for life, and develop a skill set that is adaptable in any environment.

ART SCHOOL 2PM - 4:30PMAt the heart of the School curriculum is art and design. At Bluebell Cottage School we believe that art is taught in all areas of learning supporting early learning and development. We integrate maths, language, science, and music with topic work that supports every child’s natural love of sensory learning through art and design. Art School is offered to children aged between two and five, as a gentle introduction to Pre-School. Children may transition to the Morning or Day School when they are ready to spend more time in School.

MORNING SCHOOL 8:30AM - 12:30AMThe morning school curriculum is offered to children under the age of five and includes lunch in school. Some children will start with art school in the afternoons and then transition to morning school when they are ready to spend more time in school independently, whilst others will be ready to start with morning school from the age of two. The school curriculum focuses on establishing confidence and independence in every child with social and emotional learning opportunities, as well as fine and gross motor skills, language development, maths, music, art and design. Between the age of three and four most children transition to the Day School, however this is not required until the year of your child’s fifth birthday.

HOLIDAY SCHOOL 10AM - 3PMDuring some school holidays we provide Holiday School for children aged from two years of age. Holiday School provides community experiences for the children at Bluebell Cottage School and the opportunity to learn more about Specialist School subjects. We have Science weeks, Maths, and Music weeks, Yoga and Art weeks, Sport, Cookery and Language weeks throughout the School year. Typically the school provides 3 weeks in July, 1 week in October, 1 week in March - April. Check the School calendar for admission dates.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYSSchool closes to all admissions at the end of each school term and during bank holidays for school holidays. This is important time for children to enjoy at home with their family and friends, and to explore other learning opportunities. Typically the School is closed for: 4 weeks in August, 1 week in October, 4 weeks in December - January, 1 week in February, 2 weeks in March - April, 1 week in May. ScHOOL FOOD

School Lunches and Snacks

School lunch is made every day from fresh ingredients to provide a nutritious school lunch that excites and encourages children to develop their food palate. Teachers introduce the school menu each week with a superhero food character linked to fruits and vegetables that children engage with during the school day to support their knowledge and understanding of where food comes from, the variety of food we eat, and how it supports our health and well being.

Teachers sit down in the dining room with the children to enjoy lunch together in their school houses.

Developing polite table manners, helping to set the table and tidy up, washing our face and hands all form part of the daily routine supporting self care and well being for children at snack, lunch and cookery time.

School menus are planned by the school chef to reflect the nutritional needs of all children in the school, with gluten and dairy free choices available. Food is served fresh in School every day and served in the dining room.
